I can't speak to all local apps and how they handle your nsec. However, if they are keeping your nsec local to your device, and not sending it anywhere, then being connected to a VPN is not going to allow that VPN to see your nsec.

Is this something that has happened to you before? I have not heard of any VPN even having the ability to steal your nsec, let alone actually doing so. However, I would assume they could see any unencrypted data sent through their servers.

You will always be safest using a signing app that is local on your device, so that your nsec itself is not being sent anywhere, only the signed events you are posting.

For masking your public IP address from the relays you are connecting to, and any servers your Nostr client may be running, such as Primal's caching server.

Maybe they aren't logging your IP, but you can't know that. Moreover, there is no reason why the relay needs to know where you live and what ISP you use, which is trivial for them to find out if they can see your public IP.

Not everyone runs Android, but if you do, that's a fantastic option. Overkill if you just don't want your IP exposed to the relays you are connecting to, though, and with some noticeable performance hit if you are trying to load anything more than text notes.

I am using the internal Tor feature on Amethyst, and it's fantastic! That said, my feed, and especially my notifications, take several seconds longer to load.

Is the nostr:npub1ve8qwrlztemdmnh62jffcr0y9m9dpqgqjdg8ufx7gc3qw5wdk74qyv9ka6 worth the cost?

Since it’s not a nostr client I’m less inclined to jump onboard.

Speaking as someone who has met some fantastic Bitcoiners through OPA, and now have meetups to go to on a regular basis, I think it's worth it.

This is like having to pick a favorite child...

For significance in shaping the types of games I would be drawn to for the rest of my life: Final Fantasy on NES.

Played almost all FF titles released in the US after that. It made me love all things swords and sorcery, so I am also a major fan of the Elder Scrolls series, the Witcher series, the Dragon Age series, and the Baldur's Gate series, among many others.

Depends on whether you are on Android or iOS. I think there is a signer extension for iOS, but I don't keep up with Nostr development on Apple devices, since I don't own any.

If you are on Android, you should be able to get Alby or Nos2X signing extensions for Kiwi Browser and be able to log in that way, without having to put in your nsec.

We need NIP-46 login on zap.stream, though. Then you could use Amber.

I'm live and streaming the original Final Fantasy (with slightly updated graphics) on zap.stream!

Come hang out and see why this game made me fall in love with the fantasy RPG genre.

Come check out my stream on zap.stream! https://zap.stream/naddr1qqjx2ep4xenxzvtz95mx2vpe956xxc3s95uxxdfj94sngce3xcurgefsxvcnwq3qeaz6dwsnvwkha5sn5puwwyxjgy26uusundrm684lg3vw4ma5c2jsxpqqqpmxwkz6nsj

This is a proposal for a consistent profile system, not for anything to do with follower counts. Profiles are kind 0, which this proposal is talking about. Follow lists are kind 3. There is no way that YOUR profile, which requires your private key's signature to be updated, can be modified to list that someone else is now following you when THEY add you to their kind 3. Not, at least, without some mechanism to ask you to sign for the update.

I believe zap.stream only currently supports NIP-07 (browser extension) login, rather than NIP-46 or NIP-55, which Amber uses for remote signing.

Not that I am aware of, and for a very simple reason.

Where do you think your follower count is stored on Nostr?

It's not.

Who YOU follow is stored in a kind 3 event on whatever relays you happened to post it to. But your kind 3 has zero information about who is following you. That information is stored in the kind 3 events of each and every one of your followers, on whatever relays they happened to publish it to.

Therefore, your client, when trying to display how many npubs are following you, has to ask the relays for any kind 3 events that include your npub in order to display a count to you. Which relays? Well... Whichever ones you told the client to read from, or in some cases, whichever relays the client reads from by default. What if people who are following you aren't posting their kind 3 to those relays? Well then, they won't show up in your follower count.

For this reason, follower counts will NEVER be accurate or the same across all clients.

I ask because the only thing Alby Hub provides for an isolated wallet is n order to differentiate it from your full lightning balance on the node is a separate NWC connection string.

Re-quotes are definitely the way.

I do see value in having more expressiveness in reactions that is not available with just zaps. However, if the client doesn't allow a variety of reactions, just "like" or nothing at all, then zaps are definitely the higher signal.

You can now sign in and manage signing requests through the Amber app. If you're not on Amber v2.0.5, you might experience issues decrypting NIP-04 messages.

Several performance improvements and bugfixes have also been added.

Wow! I had no idea NIP-55 signing was possible from a web-app!

I would really like to see more clients implementing NIP-46. Both native apps and web-apps.

Reason: This has a lot of flexibility for giving someone the ability to post to an npub from a completely different device without giving them the nsec.

Is this something that could be used to allow nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm Hub wallets to have custom lightning addresses that fetch invoices using something like #NostrWalletConnect?

I'd love to join. The last couple times I tried, I had no audio. It was probably the browser I was using.

Is there a mobile browser on Android that is confirmed to work?

Look to denominations that actually practice, not just talk about, church discipline. The ones who depose leadership when they abuse their flock, and have mechanisms for reporting, investigating, and adjudicating such matters.

#Minecraft Monday anyone?

Streaming Minecraft on the last standing #Bitcoin Minecraft server: Sovereign Craft.

Just a chill time clearing an area for a massive build I've been planning for a while.
