There seems to be something with Nostr that I've seen through casual observation and then discussions among new people - that having a really small following results in disproportionately low engagement. (ie. half the followers means 1/4th the engagement or something similar)

In other words, it seems like the bootstrapping phase of this network for new people is worse than on traditional platforms. But I can't think of an obvious reason why this might be unless it's a consequence of not having cross-talk between relays.

Wondering if there might be a way to somehow amplify or ensure wide relay connections for those new to the platform, without amplifying bots and scams at the same time?

Maybe this is just sort of an inescapable reality of the tech, but mostly just thinking out loud. 🤔

I have finally entered ZBD Social, so far everything I have been seeing has seemed incredible to me. 😁

I also noticed this a while back and reported some to nostr:npub16c0nh3dnadzqpm76uctf5hqhe2lny344zsmpm6feee9p5rdxaa9q586nvr - I had the impression that they don’t ban accounts intentionally. My guess is that accounts with a lot of reports might get blocked.

Totally. It's wild to think gen z might not have experience with apps and platforms etc that don't have built in algos and force-fed content.

Nostr has aleays felt like a simultaneous throw back AND futuristic.

Stream live chats are the only instance where we still have a fairly unfiltered feed in the centralized social media world. I think that’s why streaming is so popular - it feels more immediate, more direct and more real than other social media platforms.

Seriously. Not being able to scroll #Snort and send specific posts to new tabs (ctrl + click) is annoying. I want to use Snort's global more because it feels much more direct and raw (because it is literally ingesting events from relays as they come in with no filter but my mute list) but i hate losing my position!

#Torrent is the real life solution, as of now.

The reason is simple.

EITHER you get very good privacy via #TOR, for example

OR you get high performance via centralised or otherwise speedy services.

You won't ever get the benefits of #TOR, without poor performance, except #Google throws billions at it, but then it's definitely not safe anymore.

Just recently I read, that #TOR only has like 6000 exit nodes. Like, really? This is the most important privacy network around the globe & we have only like 6000 exit nodes, of which many are probably bullshit, anyway.

So, considering that fact, we aren't even close to getting a performant #Onion network in the near future, except #Google (or whatever too big company) throws billions at it & makes it not safe anymore.
