Framed #664 (I have seen it. I watched one episode back of Digging for Britain, which is a show covering various archeological digs happening in the UK. It's a great show and a fascinating glimpse of an island, Islands technically. The only thing annoying about it is the music, which seems less pervasive in this, the fifth, series. It's folk music. The aspect I dislike about folk music is it's often an impression of folk by folk whom appreciate quality kitchen utensils. In the same way that the Arts & Crafts movement, much of which I admire, were people whom had at least one Baedeker guide and had used a Raclette scraper at least once, rather than living in grinding poverty or near poverty, with smoky, seasonal, disease ridden, subsistence and crapping outside. I suppose we're all tourists and cultural appropriation doesn't count if it's an attempt to preserve memories. Or, at least, the good bits and the bits that aren't awkward. The lyrics are very good. It is possible to like real ale without all the bollocks. I don't know what the alternative is. The modern equivalents. Anyway, Digging for Britain is a great TV show. Apologies to folk. You are excellent and may we sup from horns of mead in Valhalla or some such cock.)

La palabra del dΓa #727 5/6 (I got about 30 minutes more sleep. Plus it probably would have been the same well rested. For reference I dreamt of an oven that cooked unevenly enough that I ate 1/3rd of a partly undercooked chicken breast. The history of stoves is a very interesting history involving all kinds of interesting people. Cookery books pre-WW1 had instructions like "cook until done" because between poor heat control and before ubiquitous clocks, domestic cooking was fraught without money, servants, and a big house. Even a bit fraught then. Or seasonal and traditional if you're into romanticising it and ignoring the bits either side of a (local equivalent of) bourgeoisie and prior to Escoffier. With unregulated street food. I basically wasn't bothered about the chicken breast but was interested in the convection and heat distribution of the oven. It was a contemporary dream #dreamtalk)

Framed #663 (nope. I have the sentimentality of Takes from The Loop a skip and watched Airplane 2. It'd be nice to say that was a good decision but it wasn't. I am not a fan of Airplane 2. It wasn't the largely crass -isms that it was imbued with, which seemed indicative of reaction against the end of the 1970s, it was as if someone had decided to turn everything up rather than keep it at the same volume. It backfired because, despite a lot of good actors involved, the gags took precidence over the actors and drowned out the acting. It's not so much style over substance, although that was part of it, it is a good case for someone editing a screenplay and judiciously pairing it back. More, in that case, was worse. The soundtrack was pretty good. It had the original Battlestar Galactica theme tune. I awoke at about 3:30 in pain. I'm otherwise in fine spirits and look forward to the day.)

Framed #662 (no. I watched tales from the loop episode 3 which was, somewhat, less predictable but the sentimentality was grating. I guess because, aside from the sci-fi elements, it isn't that uncommon an experience among people whom are a bit complicated. I was going to say 'a bit mental' rather than 'a bit complicated' but they're pretty much the same and technically one is less offensive or stigmatising. I don't see why. Everyone is a bit complicated at points in their life, or all the time, and it's a shame when people are mental about it. The alternative is uncomplicated. Which sounds like something said in a conversation between two old ladies at a bus stop talking about Philipa's fiancΓ©e whom is basically solid but philosophically aligned with an advertisement for cordless power tools.)

Framed #661 (I have seen it but I wasn't engaged enough to remember the plot. I watched Tales from The Loop. The first two episodes. I guessed the plot entirely in episode one and mostly in episode two, not very far into each episode. That's the problem with thinking "why are they explicitly making a point of showing this to me?" which is followed with "potentially because ...". It makes watching things while multitasking better because I won't notice with my nose in a laptop. It's very good, but the soundtrack has has sentimentality turned up to the max, but I don't know if there would be an alternative to that. Worth watching and seems mostly family friendly. I have sourdough started as of nearly 24 hours ago and want to get on with that. The Christmas abundance of UPF does not agree with me. I'm still in a flare up but it is better than yesterday, not least because I've had some quality sleep, I only awoke once. I've got to remember to stretch. I'm going to try not to swear in type. I'm not going to swear in type. And some other stuff, which will become clear.)

Framed #660 (I quite enjoyed it. Yesterday was the usual Saturday. In the evening I watched Don't Breath 2, which was a a good, if not also very silly, follow up to the original. Employing most of the same tricks but unfortunately ramping up the violence. I say unfortunately but because there was less violence in the first film it had more impact. I also watched the episode of South Park where Eric Cartman gets a mobility scooter, which was a good episode but also had the moral iffyness of some South Park Episodes, in that the basic premise was that people using mobility scooters in America were doing so primarily for obesity. Which I don't think is probably true - why someone is obese and using a mobility scooter has a temptingly simple explanation, they eat more calories than they use, but says nothing about why. As someone with an often invisible but definitely there health condition (axSpA) I'm pretty wary of jumping to conclusions. On the other hand it's funny. If I imagine myself indulging in self love, with the theme tune to Steptoe and Son*, it's funnier than said soundtrack with a seriously fat person on a mobility scooter. Just. Says fuck all about why though and I can see why some people would legitimately get upset. That's life I guess and I stand, often with a degree of background pain, in solidarity with anyone who is invisibly taunted by Old Ned including obese people on mobility scooters. Things get better and worse and we'll cope because we have no choice about it. Ask me if I feel like that when I'm a bit, logically, depressed... There will be swearing. The pain is receding today which has cheered me up a lot. And Eric Cartman is as Eric Cartman does.)

Framed #659 (nah. I finished Black Butterflies, La Pappilons Noir, French, Netflix, which I enjoyed. I woke up at 1.52am with a painful spine and I'm going to attempt to get back to sleep. On average each of the puzzles, other than Worldle, takes me below two minutes. Then I spend a little time staring at the phone screen typing this during which time I'll maybe read the news and think of a song that I'd like to use, which is usually something I've previously heard, had recommended by people I know or follow, often as a part of an album, or algorithmically. Although, by and large, the algorithmic recommendations aren't that good and tend to reflect previous likes rather than what I'm listening to currently, a bit like been spammed by online advertising for something I bought a week ago. I don't think there is a correct answer, just a choice which is maybe why algorithms are not the best at recommendations. They often lack serendipity, which, in my experience, largely comes down to instinctual rather than wholly rational choices.)

Framed #657 (nah. I've been watching Black Butterflies on Netflix. It's good and medium French. Still experiencing a 5/10 flare-up of autoimmune related pain. Not life threatening, or the worst, relative to lots of things. So I'm not especially listening to music, or doing much outside of operating on a detached autopilot, until it recedes, which it will, or I'll adapt. I feel like a lot of 90s dance music is anti-music and I don't mean that in a wholly derogatory way because I think it's often as much about outsiders as punk rock but from an entirely different angle. While punks often made shitty music with cheap guitars a lot of 90s EDM people made shitty music with cheap computers and relatively cheap synths. Totally different values and aesthetics but a similar modus operandi. Like all culture, over the longer term, we mostly remember the good or notable bits. For every Liam Howlett there were 10 Jeremy Usbornes, but they were there, and it means/meant something. It's 5am and I feel increasingly shitty, and I have had no sleep, yet I'm optimistic. Which is like a 1990s simulator.)
