At the Summit for Ukraine, taking place today in Kyiv on the day marking three years since the Russian invasion, dozens of allied countries are present—except for one major absence. Guess which one.

French President Emmanuel Macron arrived at the White House in Washington D.C. to meet with U.S. President Donald J. Trump on issues surrounding the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War. As reported last week, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to visit the U.S. capital for a meeting with President Trump later this week. Europe has seen a flurry of Ukraine-centric diplomatic activity in the past week, as the U.S. has repeatedly signaled that Europe must play a much bigger role in the security dynamic on the continent and on issues concerning Ukraine while the U.S. looks to divert its attention elsewhere. The move, alongside other political clashes between U.S. and European decision-makers, has drawn both praise and criticism from the international community.

Barak Ravid: “Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar instructed the Foreign Ministry three weeks ago to open quiet talks with the far-right parties in France, Spain and Sweden that have until now been officialy boycotted by the Israeli government, three Foreign Ministry officials told me”
In 1938, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain attempted to appease Hitler’s expansionist appetite by offering the German dictator about 20% of Czechoslovakia. Chamberlain’s goal was to prevent another world war, but all he achieved was to show Hitler the weakness of the West, ultimately helping lead the world into World War II.
Now, in 2025, Trump wants to offer Putin about 20% of Ukraine to avoid another world war, but all he will accomplish is showing Putin the weakness and lack of unity in the West.
"A peace built on the humiliation of the victim, rewarding Russia for its aggression, would not be a true peace; it would be a betrayal! We Czechs know very well what it feels like to experience such betrayal!"
– Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic.

The British fire service is very male and very white, according to a report.
The report, commissioned by the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), concluded that the fire service was “institutionally racist, misogynistic, and homophobic.”
It stated that firefighters in Britain were not “diverse” enough because the proportion of women and ethnic minorities in the service is lower than in society as a whole.
The Department of Defense (DoD) has now released an official statement and response to last night’s email sent by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), under the direction Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), to all federal employees, titled “What did you do last week.” The DoD has instructed all employees to not respond and/or pause any responses to the email, stating “The Department of Defense is responsible for reviewing the performance of its personnel and it will conduct any review in accordance with its own procedures.”

Context:
An email was sent out last night to all federal employees, even those not under the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) or Executive Branch, by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), demanding that they reply to the email with “5 bullets of what you accomplished last week” or face forced resignation.
Several agencies and departments, including some within the Department of Defense, have already instructed their employees not to respond to the email, as they are not under DOGE’s purview or the OPM.

The Homefront Command has adjusted the activity scale in the northern frontier communities from “partial activity” to “full activity,” with residents able to begin returning to their homes in the North on March 2nd.

Zelensky stated that he is ready to sign an agreement involving Ukraine’s minerals, oil, and gas, but only if security guarantees are provided.
Trump wants Zelensky to sign a deal ceding 50% of Ukraine’s mineral resources but without offering any security guarantees. Under these terms, Zelensky has refused to sign, stating:
“They want minerals? Give us weapons.”

Donald Trump congratulated Friedrich Merz and the CDU/CSU on their victory in today’s German elections. In his message, Trump referred to the CDU/CSU as a conservative party in Germany, stating that, much like in the U.S., the German people are fed up with the reckless agenda, particularly in areas such as energy and immigration.
Like the AfD, which received strong backing from Elon Musk, the CDU/CSU supports stricter immigration laws, but without the extreme and even racial rhetoric promoted by the AfD.
However, unlike the AfD, which advocates a pro-Russian stance, calling for Germany to reconcile with Putin and end aid to Ukraine, the CDU/CSU stands for the opposite. Merz has repeatedly stated that he will send Germany’s long-range Taurus missile to Ukraine and increase Germany’s overall support for Ukraine’s defense.
“My absolute priority will be achieving independence from the U.S. From the statements made last week, it is clear that the U.S. is relatively indifferent to Ukraine’s future.”

Estimated Number of Seats in the German Parliament After Today’s Elections
The AfD made significant gains, but the party had expected a better result, especially after a major advertising campaign by Elon Musk and Trump’s VP, JD Vance. Some political analysts believe that the party’s excessive focus on pro-Russia narratives may have hurt its electoral performance.
During the campaign, the AfD stated that one of its first measures would be to block all aid for Ukraine’s defense against the Russian invasion and restore full economic, diplomatic, and trade ties with Vladimir Putin.
The AfD saw strong growth when its primary focus was combating illegal immigration, but its momentum stalled and slightly declined when it shifted toward pro-Russia messaging. This strategy worked well in former East Germany, but in the rest of the country, the average German voter became wary and distanced themselves from the party.
With an 84% turnout, the highest since 1990, the exit poll results for the German elections are as follows. Official results will begin to be released soon, but if these numbers hold, the center-right CDU/CSU has won with 29% of the vote, followed by the far-right AfD with 19.5%.
The AfD was the biggest gainer in this election, increasing its vote share by 9.1%, though the party had expected an even stronger result—especially after a major advertising push by Elon Musk and U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who personally traveled to Germany to offer his support to the AfD.
These numbers may change in the coming hours as official results are released.

On this day, exactly 80 years ago, the U.S. flag was raised over Mount Suribachi in Iwo Jima—a moment immortalized through the lens of Joe Rosenthal. This was actually the second flag-raising, as the first flag, dirtied and tattered, was replaced with a new one. https://video.nostr.build/4eaf7a928b9950e231abb045464852e3e8f529a9f8e887f27966a2bcb4e4eb6f.mp4
