General Michael “The Gorilla” Kurilla, outgoing Commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), concluded his final tour of the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility on Saturday, wrapping up a 15-day visit from July 20 to August 2 that spanned 12 countries: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Pakistan, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, and the Kyrgyz Republic.

Throughout the trip, Gen. Kurilla met with U.S. servicemembers, senior military officials, defense ministers, and heads of state. In Pakistan, he took part in the Central and South Asia (CASA) Chiefs of Defense Conference, where military leaders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and the United States gathered under the theme: “Strengthening Bonds, Security, Peace.”

He also oversaw the change of command for Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR), the U.S.-led coalition of 87 nations conducting counter-ISIS operations in Iraq and Syria.

Reflecting on his final deployment, Kurilla said:

“You can’t truly understand the complexity, challenges, or strategic potential of the Middle East, the Levant, and Central and South Asia without being there. No report or phone call can replace time on the ground. Listening directly to our troops, partner leaders, and local populations gives you a far deeper and more accurate perspective. I return with immense respect for our servicemembers and renewed confidence in the shared vision for regional stability and cooperation among our partners.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting today with Defense Minister Israel Katz, Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Netanyahu’s office has notified the U.S. that they will occupy the Gaza Strip with the goal of eliminating all Hamas members. But more importantly: Israel has stated that it will eliminate all Hamas leaders wherever they are in the world.

Trump and the Office of the Pardon Attorney (OPA), urging the commutation of George Santos’ prison sentence. Santos, the former GOP Representative for New York’s 3rd District, began serving an 87-month sentence last week after being convicted in April on federal charges including wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Maria Elvira Salazar stated:

“OUTRAGEOUS INJUSTICE! Once again, Alexandre de Moraes has abused his power by placing former President Bolsonaro under house arrest without a single conviction or due process.

This is NOT justice — it’s political persecution.

Brazil is teetering dangerously close to becoming a dictatorship, where political opponents are silenced rather than tried.

We must raise our voices before it’s too late.”

The Trump Administration has announced that states and cities that boycott Israeli-owned or Israeli-based companies will be ineligible for federal disaster relief and aid. In a notice issued Friday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) stated that jurisdictions must comply with its “terms and conditions,” which now include a requirement not to cut “commercial relations specifically with Israeli companies” in order to qualify for funding.

The affected funding includes approximately $1.9 billion in federal grants used by states for critical disaster preparedness needs, such as search-and-rescue equipment, emergency management salaries, and backup power systems. FEMA also said that major cities must comply with the new Israel-related condition to receive a share of $553.5 million allocated for counterterrorism efforts in high-density urban areas like New York City.

Russian media report that the Su-57 fighter jet has been equipped with a new hypersonic missile, reportedly similar to the Zircon. In a newly released video, Hezbollah declares:

“Resistance is our choice.”

Iran has long insisted it never pursued nuclear weapons — but comments from a former senior official cast doubt on that claim.

In April 2022, Ali Motahari, former Deputy Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, admitted that the country’s nuclear program originally aimed to develop a bomb. “If we had managed to keep it secret and conduct a nuclear test, the matter would have been settled,” he said. “Once we had started, we should have seen it through to the end.”

The interviewer, taken aback, asked whether such a statement might jeopardize ongoing negotiations.

Motahari replied dismissively: “No one pays attention to what I say.”

In a closed-door meeting with families of Israeli hostages, Steve Witkoff reportedly expressed cautious optimism, telling them, “I don’t have perfect news, but I believe we’ll succeed.”

He also revealed a significant change in President Trump’s approach to the negotiations: an end to incremental agreements. “President Trump now believes that all hostages must return at once,” Witkoff said.

“We’re moving toward an all-or-nothing deal for all 20 living hostages,” he added. “And we have a plan.”

President Donald Trump announced Friday that he had ordered the removal of the Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner following the release of that day’s jobs report, stating, “We didn’t believe the numbers.” He added that the commissioner was “very suspect.”

Germany’s Ministry of Defense reported a sharp rise in interest and recruitment for the Bundeswehr this year, with a 28% increase in new enlistments compared to the same period in 2024. As of the end of July, roughly 13,750 recruits had been sworn in, bringing the total number of active servicemembers to approximately 183,100. Voluntary military service among young people has also jumped by 15%, which officials attribute to targeted recruitment efforts and growing security concerns linked to the war in Ukraine. By the end of August, Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s Cabinet is expected to vote on a draft law that would overhaul Germany’s military service system, with the long-term goal of expanding the Bundeswehr to over 300,000 active personnel.
