1. They are just sharing about the V4V economy, and specifically sharing and promoting wavlake, which they have even made available in their own app for people. Fountain and Wavlake are absolutely the two biggest from my experience.

2. I get a ton of sats from Fountain. I just emptied 1,5 million sats into the BC recovery Fund which was a couple of months worth of streams and boosts just for my podcast.

3. Fountain didn’t write the article, it was included by the author and the musicians as specific examples.

4. KYC custodians are a LEGAL problem, you think they *want* to have to KYC people for a few hundred bucks of sats? Are you mad that they won’t invest thousands of hours and enormous amounts of resources into a platform and then risk it all by breaking the law (a shitty law or not)?

5. How did they copy wavlake? Fountain launched before them if I remember correctly, and what did they copy, adding Nostr? So nobody can add Nostr without it being a negative that they “copied” someone. But then you also complain about closed source, you realize open source is specifically so that people can *copy* others right? How on one hand can you demand people be allowed to copy, but then attack people for it, and in a situation that doesn’t even seem applicable? Did Damus copy Amethyst? Did Primal copy Nostur? Did Nostr copy Lightning? Seriously do you think that a vague idea like being able to zap people should be owned and controlled by a single entity?

6. Why on earth would this piss you off? How could you read great news and then twist this into being angry at Fountain just for talking about it?

Yeah there’s a very difficult balancing act of saying the truth and not losing everyone around you who is (rightfully) afraid.

It isn’t cynical libertarianism, it’s pragmatism and understanding the cost of using energy.

It costs 100x as much to spend your days, time, energy, and mind focused on politics, while the difference in the outcome is indistinguishable regarding who wins the election when looking at basically any meaningful stats or outcomes. Debt is going to explode upward, doesn’t matter who’s in office. Military complex will grow further. Govt will get bigger. Etc etc

Yet just a small amount of energy and time spent on decentralized protocols, on adopting and spreading understanding of sound money, or using a social network that cannot be censored, or spreading the signal and helping others to stop wasting time on lost causes that black hole our precious time and money.

I call it pragmatism because I realize politics is a game show designed to trick you into thinking it’s the center of the world. I actually live in reality, while you play reality TV.

I say this with respect, I think we have very different ideas as to what really moves the world. I’m not defeatist, I think putting politics at the center of everything happens in the mind of someone already totally defeated.

Nostr is such a demonstration of the world we are building. Multiple friends and family are blown away that I could just make a post and people from anywhere in the world could just donate instantly and sats start streaming in.

A number of people in our home towns are also getting together church donations, packing them up and heading to the mountains. The in laws even sent a Lightning donation! (One of their very few Lightning transactions, so that was fun)

They are going to need help for a long time going forward, but luckily NC (and honestly the south in general) has a really strong sense of community still and I know they will get help. My friend is doing well, got a few hours sleep and is back out with search and rescue. He knows about the funds now (he’s also a bitcoiner) and is finding the best place for them and I’ll update everyone when I get them delivered. ❤️❤️

I’ve always used hardibacker screws because they hold so well. Anytime I have some place to repair that’s what I use. Granted I use screws for literally everything. I have like one box of nails and honestly don’t even know why, lol. Haven’t used any in years of building stuff 😂
