nostr is still mainly used alongside twitter. in the best rare case, as a replacement. and only because people are running away from something about twitter they don't like.

there is nothing that people want to run to nostr for yet. zaps were promising, but bitcoin is still a hurdle (one that primal is doing the best at overcoming), and it's doubtful lightning could scale to a massive adoption moment.

nostr needs a feature or experience that's unique and sets it apart. i *think* that is the ecosystem of microapps over the long term...but it's definitely not in the short term. and that might be ok.

for twitter the initial draw was the simplicity and weirdness of 140 characters (we started with zero network effect, facebook had it all...that's built over time). later it became the conversation which lead to the "public square" (owned by a private corporation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). and then as it grew, it had a single point of control/failure people could attack.

nostr doesn't have to worry about that last bit. it's an incredible feature. but not one the average person cares about (no matter how much they yell "FREE SPEECH!"...if people actually cared about free speech, bitcoin and nostr would be all they used...they don't).

all this to say, we're not doomed. but what we think is the killer feature isn't right now. who's going to discover the one that is?

Outbox model update from Primal. This week we released updates to all of our clients (web, iOS, android), with the following capabilities:

1. Relay settings are based on NIP-65

2. Newly-onboarded users get randomly selected relays from the list of ~1,100 active relays (plus primal and purple pages relays). Existing users can test this capability by selecting “reset default relays” in network settings

3. All published content includes tags with the appropriate relay hints

4. When posting replies, we respect the relay hints on parent notes and post to those relays as well

This update ensures that Primal clients play nicely with outbox clients. The final step will be to implement reading content directly from relays, which will be used in conjunction with our caching service. That will take a bit more time, but we are marching ahead towards this ideal. 🫡

I agree that there is a conflict between bitcoin cypherpunks and bitcoiners and that is absolutely fascinating to watch.

Will the power of this software protocol and the incredible game theory mechanism that was activated overcome the blind greed and fiat way of thinking.?Even people who "kinda get it" have hard time plugging into the cypherpunk btc ethos...it is simply against their whole world view, their vision of world balance. It takes a lot to get it...or an honest Punk Attitude.

How would you get monero without any other coin or fiat? Just mining it? And if it’s that private who guarantees that the supply hasn’t changed?

Desculpe mas, tem a ver sim. Primeiro porque o Gado europeu é o mais gado do planeta, em especial os Alemães. Se o parlamento da máfia europeia disser que você não poderá sair das 12 às 14 horas no verão porque houve aumento do cancro de pele, vão obedecer mesmo sem comprovação que isso aumentou ou que isso afecta alguma coisa na saúde (soa-te familiar com o que houve na fraudemia com o lockdown?).

Depois, só de ter saído essa aberração de bruxelas (um sitio desse com esse nome, só podia sair bruxaria draconiana mesmo) de guerra contra a privacidade (veja, não é guerra contra o dinheiro e sim contra a privacidade, um direito humano), alguns me procuraram perguntando como fazia para apontar que a wallet era sua mesmo (pasme). Para não criar atrito e escrever tanto, como estou a fazer neste momento, disse que não era de minha expertise esse tipo de situação.

Já sobre a shitcoin citada por si, a única finalidade que eu vejo é tirar a rastreabilidade do bitcoin ligada àquela pessoa, embora um coinjoin resolva o problema sem precisar sujar as mãos. Só mais um detalhe. A shitcoin que falaste tem anonimidade e não privacidade. Privacidade o bitcoin tem, só saber usar com as ferramentas certas e ainda sim é totalmente auditavel de forma rápida e fácil. Já essa cópia que citaste com modificações, você não tem como provar que X é X porque é anónima. Na matemática você só pode ter uma incógnita Ex: X + 3 = 4. Facilmente você percebe que X = 1. Agora X + Y = 4. Como você pode determinar que X é 1? Ou que Y é 3? Percebes? Então quando você tem um segredo, não há como auditar. Anonimato é segredo. Ninguém sabe. Privacidade é uma informação que você detém e só irá partilhar quando você transacionar com alguém, sendo só você e esse alguém que saberá essa informação privada, mas que a sua transação será publica para que a rede possa ser auditada por simples matemática onde todos sabem que não há burla nas moedas transacionadas. E é ai que está a falha da moeda com anonimidade. Você não tem como auditar, pois é segredo. Você só pode confiar num código que alguém fez e disse que verifica a rede. Então não há auditoria. Há uma relação de confiança. O dia que isso for fraudado (se já não foi) ou que exista uma falha neste código e vir ao conhecimento de todos, será a mais nova shitcoin a valer seu valor real = ZERO.
