You must not have looked at all if you think that. As recently as 2018, tariffs were implemented on washing machines. Prices increased initially, but LG and Samsung opened plants in the US, and a few years later prices came down and were lower than before in some cases.
Every other country has tariffs, so they must not have gotten the memo that tariffs = bad.
No one is stopping you from whoever you want. You’re not entitled to a specific price.
Maybe the elite that are seeing their stocks go down, but that’s a small portion of the population. A larger number of Americans will benefit from all the jobs and competitive pricing.

Short term increase in the cost of imported goods is but one factor to consider. There are national security, political, and social implications that need to be considered before letting the manufacturing base of any country to evaporate cause of cheap goods made with slave labor.

For real, so what if our manufacturing base is a shell of itself? People be making a fuss about us depending on other countries for medicine, chips, and all sorts of commodities.
The COVID aftermath and growth of online communities have left people less inclined to be charitable within their local communities because the bonds and relationships are no longer there.
