My #zeus wallet has been stuck at 99% sync for like a day now, any way to fix this? I have tried the rescan wallet option under embedded node => advanced, but no luck. #bitcoin #asknostr
This is a very interesting tool! I wonder if instead of correct/incorrect, you can say "makes sense" or "I have questions" and if they have questions, you can expand on that point and provide resources/citations

Returning to #nostr after a while, I went digging into the usage stats. While it's hard to get definitive numbers, over the past 6 months there is a slow grind downward in active users. However it's still around 14K users DAU which is pretty decent.

I honestly feel like there's strill a stigma that nostr is something for BTC maxis only. It felt true when I first joined a few years ago (2023), and it still feels true today when I see/hear people commenting about nostr elsewhere, or look around the relay feeds.
It makes me wonder if wider adoption is held back by this idea, or whether it's just *too niche* a technology to expect normies to pick up and use.
It's not the same, but activitypub/fediverse (aka Mastodon) has faced similar challenges IMHO. The users are highly opinionated on certain topics, and I can't shake the feeling that their uptake is held back not by the tech but by the users' vocal opinion on various things (i.e., crypto is horrible, AI is terrible, certain political views chastised, etc..) You end up with a very similar crowd of shared opinion as a result, and others don't feel welcome and worse, are actively pushed out. Again, I'm not saying nostr is like this, but there's a similar challenge of adoption.
Thinking back to my own experience when starting to use nostr, it felt very easy to get signed up and start consuming/posting. There's good ecosystem choice in clients. The issues are things like NIP-05 verification or creating/linking up lightning wallets; it starts getting more complicated and it's not easy for the regular user to do.
I guess I'm left with the thought that adoption is a function of ease: both technical and behavioural. Is it easy to get setup? Is it easy to feel welcome no matter who I am?

The biggest adoption hurdle imo is usability. There's a million apps, all of them have one rough edge of another, people are constantly saying you need to pick relays but there's no good definitive way to do so, media upload is difficult or impossible, DMs don't work for many users etc.
#asknostr what's a petty hill you'll die on? Mine is apps. If your product or service *requires* an app, I'm not using it. When my ISP told me the app was required to activate my modem, I wasted an hour of their tech support teams time by telling them I "didn't have a phone" and made them set it up instead.
Technology changing society faster than culture and biology can adapt. Slowing or reversing of the rise of living standards which makes people restless/makes society unstable.
Most clients support delete as a function. It's up to the relays and other people's clients whether to honor your delete request or not, so far they all do. But nothing can stop someone from saving a copy. It's a convenience, not a guarantee.
Just zapped you
Many clients let you filter notes, just filter all notes that mention Bitcoin, problem solved. Amesthyst is one such client.
Trying #amesthyst for the first time in over a year. This previous one was buggy and unreliable. This new version is completely different, they need to rename it, it is literally unrecognizable as the same app.
Just zapped, looks like it went through π«‘
Iris.to is probably best for this, but it's not perfect
I would suggest manually removing one relay at a time to figure out which one is causing the problem, unfortunately this is a tedious and manual process at the moment. Or try a different client which deals with poor relay performance more gracefully. I'm on amethyst and don't have this issue
Would be helpful to know which client you are on. Problem is usually that you have some slow relays selected
People who fight technology have never won. Ever.
The solution to spam is web of trust which nostr is built around. Easy peasy.
Namecheap, they are great, reasonably priced, and take BTC.
My powers are beyond your imagination
Interesting haven't heard of this yet thank you!

Been a while since I looked, does nostr have a quality reddit clone yet? I know stacker.news but that is a centralized service. #asknostr #reddit
You can follow fewer people. Otherwise, your client will need to reach out to whatever relays their content is stored on.
