Thanks! Appreciate the boost, as well as your awesome site. I just posted a new release yesterday so I added the hashtag.

I see regular posts on FB groups from people who've published what they call "low content" books, i.e., notebooks, planners, journals, etc. I guess people think these can be profitable. Not sure about the reality. ๐คท Seems like there's a glut of them.
nostr:npub15wtkkf7yxmea8g4mstwjlu4hsm40luj6f65m99hqjyjh7nes8eqstl7rek There is no scientific evidence that plants are sentient.

I've read a few studies which suggest this. Sentient = aware. Sapient = thinking (which animals definitely do)

That's disappointing ๐

Yeah. That would be strange. I keep wondering what I'll do with myself when I finish my last planned book. I suppose I could learn to market? ๐ค

Good luck with the story submission! ๐คฉ

Right. I use my spreadsheet as part of my self-editing rounds to search for words that could indicate a problem. In this case it would be overuse.
nostr:npub15wtkkf7yxmea8g4mstwjlu4hsm40luj6f65m99hqjyjh7nes8eqstl7rek I measured the light directly behind a window with a luxmeter: 28%
The reason is that behind a window the light comes only from one direction, outside from five.

Yeah, it's not ideal, but the sunniest place inside. I'm honestly amazed it grew so well. It's the first time I had luck with a pit. Someday it'll get more sunshine.

It's between 2 windows, plus has an overhead so that's as much as it's going to get. It gets pretty sunny from that back window in the morning. It's way too hot here to put it outside right now. Plus, last time I did something munched it. I might move it to a porch once it gets cooler (and we get the porch built ๐ )
nostr:npub15wtkkf7yxmea8g4mstwjlu4hsm40luj6f65m99hqjyjh7nes8eqstl7rek nostr:npub1gx6r07sddez6je69xhwyc4g6g4c6t5spx96sg3xxeqyvf7ww72dqcxxcqu Mailing lists are great tools for writers to build a following but I think Jason Scott Bell in his book "
How to Make a Living as a Writer" (I'm gonna paraphrase) "Not amount of marketing or glamor is gonna fix sub-par writing."
I'd only join a mailing list if it was a book at actually enjoyed and wanted to hear from the author.

I get enough email already ๐คท If I really like an author I'll find and follow them on social media or bookmark their website. But that's just my personal preference. I know mailing lists work for many readers.

Yeah, I only add details like that if they're important to the plot.
Finished Platero & I by Juan Ramรณn Jimรฉnez. Not the easiest book, but beautifully translated by Eloise Roach, heartwarming, a little sad.

I loved that book ๐ฅฐ
nostr:npub15wtkkf7yxmea8g4mstwjlu4hsm40luj6f65m99hqjyjh7nes8eqstl7rek Thank you. As I say, I'd never done one until a couple of years ago. They can act as advertising, I suppose, but, as you say, the act of creation helped focus me on her, on the plot. After all, Riparia's first novel was written in 2016, her mood board created in 2021. ๐

Do you post them on your website? That might work as fun extra content for readers.

Wow. You are impressively organized. ๐ I've never done mood boards, but I can see where they might help you get into the character's head space.

Working on the first draft for the third sequel to the Woodspell trilogy. It's not scheduled for release until 2025, but I'm slow. ๐
My grown-from-a-pit avocado tree is taller than me now. ๐ I am a proud mom to my house tree--it's beautiful & healthy--but I wonder if I can/should do anything more for it. It's just one thin trunk that needs stakes. Is there anything that can be done to encourage a thicker trunk or branching? Or is this what you normally get growing one in a pot?

nostr:npub15wtkkf7yxmea8g4mstwjlu4hsm40luj6f65m99hqjyjh7nes8eqstl7rek Rock and cactus garden can be fantastic too. I definitely find it interesting to see different gardens in different enviroronments.

It's been a great learning experience. I made a cactus garden last year that is mostly doing well now after initial blunders. And I have an experimental garden of "let's see what I can keep alive in this weather" in the back. We had a cool fall & spring which helped. I don't have a lot of space but am working on making us a nice oasis.
