Thanks! Appreciate the boost, as well as your awesome site. I just posted a new release yesterday so I added the hashtag.

I've read a few studies which suggest this. Sentient = aware. Sapient = thinking (which animals definitely do)

Right. I use my spreadsheet as part of my self-editing rounds to search for words that could indicate a problem. In this case it would be overuse.

nostr:npub15wtkkf7yxmea8g4mstwjlu4hsm40luj6f65m99hqjyjh7nes8eqstl7rek I measured the light directly behind a window with a luxmeter: 28%

The reason is that behind a window the light comes only from one direction, outside from five.

Yeah, it's not ideal, but the sunniest place inside. I'm honestly amazed it grew so well. It's the first time I had luck with a pit. Someday it'll get more sunshine.

It's between 2 windows, plus has an overhead so that's as much as it's going to get. It gets pretty sunny from that back window in the morning. It's way too hot here to put it outside right now. Plus, last time I did something munched it. I might move it to a porch once it gets cooler (and we get the porch built ๐Ÿ˜€ )

How to Make a Living as a Writer" (I'm gonna paraphrase) "Not amount of marketing or glamor is gonna fix sub-par writing."

I'd only join a mailing list if it was a book at actually enjoyed and wanted to hear from the author.

I get enough email already ๐Ÿคท If I really like an author I'll find and follow them on social media or bookmark their website. But that's just my personal preference. I know mailing lists work for many readers.

nostr:npub15wtkkf7yxmea8g4mstwjlu4hsm40luj6f65m99hqjyjh7nes8eqstl7rek Thank you. As I say, I'd never done one until a couple of years ago. They can act as advertising, I suppose, but, as you say, the act of creation helped focus me on her, on the plot. After all, Riparia's first novel was written in 2016, her mood board created in 2021. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Do you post them on your website? That might work as fun extra content for readers.

My grown-from-a-pit avocado tree is taller than me now. ๐Ÿ˜€ I am a proud mom to my house tree--it's beautiful & healthy--but I wonder if I can/should do anything more for it. It's just one thin trunk that needs stakes. Is there anything that can be done to encourage a thicker trunk or branching? Or is this what you normally get growing one in a pot?

It's been a great learning experience. I made a cactus garden last year that is mostly doing well now after initial blunders. And I have an experimental garden of "let's see what I can keep alive in this weather" in the back. We had a cool fall & spring which helped. I don't have a lot of space but am working on making us a nice oasis.
