Man, even threads consisting of only people I follow and messages my client already knows about, are full of holes...
No, to participate in a fedimint you have to deposit coins into it, which the multisig quorum then controls. Inside the fedimint is where chaumian ecash comes into play.
Fedimints have total custody of your coins, they can inflate the "in mint" supply or just outright rug pull you. It's still better from one party having total custody (like coinbase or whatever), but it's still a trusted relationship.
Personally I think there's a hard fork to add sub satoshis at some point (and hopefully bump the block size), but even at $100M/1BTC that's 1 satoshi = 1 dollar, don't *really* need to subdivide sats even then.
Most bitcoin exchanges have exposure to these banks that are failing.
Withdraw any bitcoin you have on exchanges ASAP.

Was it muun that is actually doing a swap for its lightning support behind the scenes?
That would be a really cool feature!
Have you tried this (forced refresh is different from a regular one): https://github.com/irislib/faq#try-this-first
Thanks! I usually do a force refresh if things still misbehave after a regular one, but I don't remember if I did this time. I'll see if the problem persists.
And thanks for the help despite my less-than-constructive tone 😂
The way iris (doesn't) load my feed is absolutely infuriating. Half the time I have to actually refresh the page. I don't know if it's just latency on the relays "that matter" or what but it's a piss poor UX.
Nothing against the iris folks of course, UX is hard and they're doing good work and moving fast, I'm just griping.
Hey Jack, I haven't listened to your TSP on nostr yet (you probably covered this and know it already) but don't forget to back up your private key, it's as important to your identity on nostr as your keys are to your Bitcoin.
I only need them to interact with other banks though 😂
Zero fiat of course. I need to keep usd for my mortgage at least.
Really wish i could get on zero...
I run thebag.social (poorly) if you want a temporary outpost on fedi.
It's a far more battle tested one, and has at least one if not two orders of magnitude better adoption. Nostr absolutely has advantages over it, but I'm not at all convinced it's the right tech. More importantly, technical superiority has essentially zero to do with success in this space.
There are far, far technically better systems than nostr that have failed to take off for years if not decades. Adoption and network effects are all that matter, and if it wasn't for the bitcoin community adoption nostr would already be DoA.
accept no substitutes

How do you do, fellow nostrils?
Where can i find stats and how reliable can we consider them? (Do they account for all major relays, etc)
