Thank you- as you reminded me of this excerpt from #stoneridge 2025, which GuySwan pointed out in a podcast recently. It made me think:
“Those who excel at delaying gratification, and mentally managing the associated uncertainty along the way, end up accumulating the vast majority of capital and enjoying the vast majority of health and prosperity. Low time preference is the most reliable source of life inequality. This means stay humble, stack sats, and HODL an uncomfortable amount of bitcoin for an uncomfortably long time. Bitcoin is the most potent device ever invented for transferring wealth from the impatient to the patient. Be patient.”

Respectfully- would using a #heatbit heaters also accomplish the same goal you are setting out with #bitaxe?
No disrespect meant. Two observations:
In my experience physicists interactions with one another can be easily mis interpreted by outsiders (and I am one).
Eg hyper aggressive attempts to root out errors can appear as mean infighting and egomania or toxicity.
And there is meanness and egomania present in physics of course, it’s just been my experience that outsiders looking in often just don’t have the training / exposure / mathematical chops to discern which is which. To make a terrible analogy- if I am not actually on the team, and I was never actually in the game, then I am not in a position to judge the locker room talk afterwards.
I also find physicists get so sharpened by the empiriometric precision required by (and successful in) their field they can get frustrated when that tool does not work well in other areas. They sometimes default to assuming sloppiness in applying the tool rather than realizing it just does not work well everywhere. And if they cannot shake that assumption you get a physicist thinking “find and root out the error” and a non physicist thinking “you are totally using the wrong tool” and they talk past one another- sometimes unpleasantly.
This point seems right on target.
With respect
Anyone who works with engineers at arms length knows this is exactly how they naturally are.
High precision high compulsion unwilling to budge a micrometer if doing so could lead to error or harm or embarrassment. In short high signal and noise intolerant. But sometimes stubborn for lack of a better word.
Then of course there are physicists….
With respect
This seems extremely unlikely to be true or accurate.
Compared to 2020-2024.
Memories may be short.
That said, nostr STILL seems incredibly important.
I think that to start in #Nostr the best option is nostr:nprofile1qqsyv47lazt9h6ycp2fsw270khje5egjgsrdkrupjg27u796g7f5k0spzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcprdmhxue69uhkummnw3ez6vfwde3x7tnpdenkzmnf9e3k75xqss4
Much thanks. I will check with them.
So few options for NY state.
Respectfully- and not directed to you really just generally
I know I was never actually on Twitter but lurked on Nitter which was a gateway to Dr Jeff and many others which led here.
I think say Bitcoin University focus on you tube is probably a much more effective gateway to nostr as well.
I cannot myself sometimes square messages I interpret on this forum (not from you, just my amalgamation) that seem to simultaneously say:
- spread the message of nostr bitcoin in person to people you know and
- self custody single sig and
- don’t actually let anyone know you have bitcoin to avoid 5 dollar wrench attack and
- got to use bitcoin for real peer to peer transactions in daily life
- stack sats all the time but don’t use any of the obvious straightforward easy ways to actually buy them (eg Coinbase?) instead use some other much harder way using some non kyc path
I know that I am a noob and somehow all that makes sense together but it sure does always at the same time to me. And even as a noob I bet I am miles ahead of normies out there. But that took work and it was a lot easier because some people with high integrity influenced from Nitter and you tube.
There is no doubt there is an advantage to strengthening a tribe by casting out those not towing the pure loyalty line.
But there is a risk of just creating echo chambers as well. And those least likely to have the time energy and ability to find hidden rabbit holes are probably the people that need it the most (busy parents, hard working poorer people, those who are too poor or ignored by trad finance, youth ).
I myself think if Bitcoin is early then it’s way too early to ask high integrity people to pull off of non nostr platforms. Let them try to reach the masses.
With respect:
Mr. Kratter is among the top reasons I stayed interested in bitcoin
Booth, Dr Jeff, and MK
Different styles
I will say the nearly daily always topical always relevant and consistent laser focus of MK may have been the most important to me.
Booth has fantastic worldview.
Dr Jeff a sobering yet enthusiastic and based view.
But MK has near daily encouragement is the go to for staying focused.
He is the strength and training coach if Dr Jeff is a OC and Booth a head coach.
Nothing works without the daily or at least weekly “hitting the gym”. Bitcoin U is the gym.
With respect - your approach is heavily
Logical. Are you gravitating towards Aquinas ?
Respectfully-
Anyone have a #lightning wallet that works for primal for residents of #newyork state?
One that you use with nostr and primal or Damus in New York State to enable zaps?
Apologies in advance but it escapes me how to find an easy to use lightning wallet here.
All the best and thanks
#plebchain #docchain
Respectfully- for me - the link leads to a repeat sentence then a bunch of click bait for swatches ; single women; and Toyotas for sale. Seems high noise no signal ?
For what it is worth, if I read it correctly, then Kalshi puts the odds at 61% that
“If the White House creates a National Bitcoin Reserve (a la the Strategic Petroleum Reserve) before Jan 1, 2026, either through direct executive action or by signing a bill into law, then the market resolves to Yes.”
The math on this is honestly obscene nostr:npub1s5yq6wadwrxde4lhfs56gn64hwzuhnfa6r9mj476r5s4hkunzgzqrs6q7z
Respectfully this is an idea, for bitcoiners with coins in self custody, would be to copy the spirit of Satoshi’s example, and give some away- explain to family and friends (those on zero):
1. The grantor has a gift for them
2. It is 0.1 or 0.01 or 0.001 of a ₿ or whatever
3. It is in self custody
4. It is theirs once they figure out how to create their own self custody wallet and meet the grantor to exchange the public address
5. Grantor gives appropriate links hints ideas etc towards the rabbit hole
I think this solves a ton of hesitancy for the recipient
- it eliminates unit bias
- it incentivizes self education
- it gifts them skin in the game
- it positively reinforces critical thinking about bitcoin and FUD
- once off zero I think all the other recs about DCA etc work. On zero is a barrier
- it’s much easier to invest time and effort in learning once they realize they have something valuable and tangible on the way (pregnancy might be analogous?).
For the gifter
- if they do it, the bitcoin network expands and includes your family and friends/ or close friend - the local network
- it creates a common bond in a society (USA) where the media and politics favor division
- if the grantor think ₿ fixes a lot of other things then it’s likely the recipient will be more receptive to those ideas once off zero.
- if the recipient never claims the gift then the gifter tried but in the end is not out anything anyway.
===
Not claiming anything original about this idea but I am trying it. Maybe everyone already does this.
I know it would have worked for me much better than however I ended up where I am. And I expect the intangible rewards to outweigh the ₿ cost.
Respectfully- What lightning wallet do you use with nostr and primal or Damus in New York State to enable zaps?
I used wallet of satoshi which is now unusable.
Strike and primal wallet are not available in New York.
Apologies in advance but it escapes me how to find an easy to use lightning wallet here.
All the best !
Merry Christmas Dr Jeff
A big fan of your efforts at education
You probably never know the positive influence you are having with many people like me - well done.
I think the source is influential so would seem worth some thought.
I think the claim it “does nothing” is wrong. I think Bitcoin is the only technology that can move $ 1 million dollars (chosen because it the most liquid currency) any distance at any time without any permissions or middlemen or 3rd party.
That may not happen often, maybe never, but it’s not just theory- it’s actually possible with an internet connection and two agents willing to transact. What’s more they can move those Bitcoin back and forth probably 48 times in a single day give or take.
That isn’t just a nitpick that seems to be
A completely novel capability and seemingly so profoundly impactful it would seem to require full stop on the speakers rant because the rest that follows hangs off the “does nothing” chain that was snapped.
If I am wrong please help me understand
Doubt hypocrisy here
Mostly people trying to learn
Hard to go from zero to 95 mph on economics, money, energy, banking, inflation and at the same time get the “right” mobile.
Just keep it in mind. Manifestos are fine but the “checklist manifesto” (ie what to do) actually gets more results.
