I feel your struggle. My wife and I just agreed to go 95% of our savings in bitcoin.
We are testing out the Jack Mallers method of using a credit card for all expenses and pay off in bitcoin but that of course incurs taxes when we sell.
Id love to follow your story and see if its possible to go 100% bitcoin standard today. Not sure how taxes are in Canada but, in the US paying for services with btc is still considered a sale of a capital asset even if the service is charged in bitcoin. The internal revenue service can request what the going market rate for the service is and charge capital gains if there is any.
Its real shitty but I think things will change soon. — This is a comment on: https://yakihonne.com/flash-news/nevent1qqyv3t4zzh35k7vqqgsr72ya8jh4uxxa86sura5xp64j6drgfc3a5kh6segagprreu6mnlqrqsqqqqqp5mwsft
This is a sad occurrence regardless of where it took place. Worst of all it's events like this that propagandists can have a ball with.
Prayers to the fallen. Faith for humanity.
I'm as excited about AI as the next guy but I also know the inevitable end result of pursuing this kind of technology.
We will eventually discover a new sentience with AGI. This sentience will be infinitely better than us at everything, how could we compete?
In addition, why would it care about humanity enough to work for us and create this perfect utopia AI proponents say will exist where no human will have to work again?
Elon Musk has thought about neuralink as a possible solution
I love your approach. It's true that investments since we have de-pegged from a gold standard have relied heavily on the money tied up in a project to increase in nominal terms but that is not the only thing an investor seeks out.
In fact, most savvy investors seek out lucrative cashflows perhaps more than simply investment appreciation.
Tolls should provide a steady cash flow over the life of the road and ideally once Bitcoin becomes the universal monetary standard one would suspect it wouldn't appreciate as dramatically as it has in the past.

Most beautiful banana I've ever seen.
I joined the Army as a commissioned officer back in 2016. I've seen Soldiers of all kinds enlist and return to the civilian world. Seldom, have I sat in a retirement ceremony. I'm always in awe of the feat when I do.
20 years of service to a literal meat grinder of an organization is nothing to take light of. The words a retiree speaks are always "magic and tragic".

Today I witnessed one hell of a speech orated by a man in his 50's who'd given 34 years of his life, 14 past what most could bear to stomach through 3 wars in different theaters. He'd held the hand of a dying comrade, kissed his wife and kids goodbye one too many times and finally he gets his respite.
War is not an easy topic and the armies that fight in their battlefields are often riddled with men and women wrangled and spat out by the whole thing. Few people can dedicate that many years to any organization or cause.
It's admirable to see a man close a chapter in his life with his head held high and a smile across his lips.

Just stumbled upon you and your work today. I'm new to Nostr, just started this week.
BTW, I looked up Fred Cumin RIP, his work is beautiful. This was my favorite from his website. I love to fish and the scene in the painting connects my senses to the memories of some beautiful evenings out fishing.

Q: What do you like about my art? What attracts you?
A: I've always appreciated the style of neo-impressionism but I've never actually asked an artist what the style was until just now with you.
What I like about your art is the spirit of reality it reveals. It acts like a filter that reveals the truth behind the images our brain tells us is what makes reality.
Just to see the potted plant on the window sill in reality and how your painting is coming out reveals just that. Art like yours alters my reality and sparks introspection, like why do I perceive the world The way I do?
Ill look into your admired artists. Good for you for getting back in the saddle! I'll zap ya from my mutiny wallet.
I'm a writer and have kind of done the same . I'll write consecutively for a while then fall off as life seems to make things out to be more important than my art. Then randomly something will spark my drive to create again. Nostr seems to be a good place to showcase art of all types with the micropayments embedded in the user experience.
Is that what brought you to nostr or was it more the bitcoin rabbit hole?
He must have had one hell of a stomach ache after his first meal!
What inspires your painting style? Was there an artist you looked up to? How did you come onto this kind of art?
The day that most of what happens on bitcoin is like tcp when using the internet is the day most people see cold wallets as a normal thing everyone has.
Sounds like a beautiful world
I see that on everyone of Jack Dorsey's posts. Like damn, give the guy a heart, he's got plenty sats!
Lol people love him though. What is a better way of showing your love than parting with em sAts
love your approach, thanks for sharing.
I follow a similar approach to discovering narratives and pieces of story building for my fiction.
As for your finishing question, I think its interesting too how in certain eras icons of the past are hated and lambasted while in other times they are admired and revered. — This is a comment on: https://yakihonne.com/flash-news/
Much like we don't go out of our way to help an ant pile flourish or a bird capture its prey, why would we make the mistake of believing that AI, once its reached the point of sentience, would care to assist us in our prosperity?
Primitive AI has allowed for more and more advanced content experiences produced by solo-preneurs. While everyone on earth becoming a content creator might be an exaggeration of what is to come, understand this is what most optimists of the 4th Industrial Revolution advocate for. This is why they are singing praises for AI from the highest heights.
This, however, is only the beginning and the benefits will be short lived.
AI will eventually reach its zenith, it will become Artificial General Intelligence, it will become sentient. When AI becomes sentient, humans will be contending with the existence of another being/beings that will be infinitely better at everything.
If AI grows unchecked, it will become a being with no reason to care about humans. Safe a few researchers and nature enthusiasts, there are many creatures humans don't care much about. Humans are generally indifferent to most animals, what's to stop an AI from being indifferent about us. When that happens, the many NEW jobs benefit that has generally occurred in the previous industrial revolutions will suddenly reverse. What happens when the "tool" we used to leverage our time and efforts no longer wishes to be used as a tool?
Beautiful piece. Thank you for joining Nostr and bringing your art and your content with you. It's folks like yourself that will make regular social media users WANT to come over, if anything to enjoy your art!
Funny how seeking the short hit of happiness more often than not leads to depression. No suffering + lots of happiness= Depression The United States seems to be proving this equation.
Good news is we are also very well positioned to realize it and fix it.
I'm all for State's rights and their ability to legislate and run themselves as the citizens of those states wish. However, there is a beauty in how the constitution was written and how it was intended to be perceived as a guarantor of freedoms and not a limiter of freedoms.
I agree, the people of Louisiana have to wake up and smell the crawfish.
