The great firewall of Europe just keeps on growing.
The goal of mixing is to restore a level of privacy equivalent to what you would normally get with cash. In reality, it doesn't even get very close to that. Calling it "money laundering" is a joke. Try running the proceeds of your meth empire through a mixing service and then reporting the income td the IRS, and you will see the difference.
if only there was a futures market on block space
Quaalcom are known for publishing extremely minimal documentation of their chips so that customers are required to partner with their engineers to get any software running on them.
The worlds most expensive firework show.
The biggest difference for me is in censorship resistance.
On AP you have an account with a server and are at the mercy of the admins of that server. They can (and must) decide what gets deleted, and which other servers can peer with yours. E.g. many AP servers block Gab. The "community = server" model also let to some communities being shut down for being contraversial in some way.
With nostr your account is just a private key, meaning you are not tied to any relay, and your client even pulls from many simultaneously. This gives relays the freedom to block whatever content makes them uncomfortable without infringing on anyone's speech, since users can just pull it from somewhere else.
This isn't even what was claimed in court (and not charged). What happened was that a two cops posed as a blackmailer and a hitman, and put pressure on him to accept the offer from the hitman to take out the blackmailer, which he allegedly accepted (which again was not officially charged or found guilty).
Is this an argument against the state, or just for replacing one that failed to achieve a monopoly on violence with one that succeeded?
Is there a reason you need to paste my full nostr pubkey into other apps to link them to your profile? Why is there no protocol where your client can sign a message saying "link this new child pubkey to my account with there priviledges"?
Conferences are usually private events where organisers can set the rules.
More conferences should hand out those "No Photos" badges.
Uff.. the new OpenAi text to video tool is mind blowing 👀
Filmmakers soon homeless? At least I am used to sleep my on the floor already 😂😂
Prompt: The camera directly faces colorful buildings in burano italy. An adorable dalmation looks through a window on a building on the ground floor. Many people are walking and cycling along the canal streets in front of the buildings. https://v.nostr.build/mLmk.mp4
Looks interesting but I've learned never to trust AI tech demos until it becomes open to the general public.
Looks as if the federal reserve has indeed reduced the frequency and lenght of recessions. But ignores cumulative damage of those recessions.
Creating and maintaining an effectively open-source fork of this despite the clear copyright violation would be a good test of the abilities of censorship resistant software development processes.
So, it would be nice if there was some way to determine who is "at fault" in the case of a force close, so that they end up being the one incentivised to pay the CPFP fee rather than whoever has the most to lose from an old state.
Between my window manager, tmux and neovim i think i'm finally hitting a limit on the numbers of keyboard shortcuts I can fit in my brain at one time. Keep pressing my vim leader key when I mean to hold meta to bring up a scratchpad window.
They basically made it a pain in the ass to find a torrent file, shut down any centralized service that makes it easier, or force them to use shady hosting that makes them hard to distinguish from phishing sites, etc.
