Ha :)
Why did the whole, deliveroo, uber eats thing suddenly become so popular? Over the last two years any walk down the high street involves having to avoid endless aggressive delivery cyclists in the middle of the street.
How did people get this lazy? Also who can afford to pay constant delivery charges lol. What's wrong with walking or driving yourself to get stuff.
I get that previously you would phone up for your Saturday take away and get it delivered, but now people are getting their lunch and coffee, McDonald's breakfast and alcohol delivered. Its so crazy to me.
Am I missing something? Being unfairly grumpy? Am I shouting at clouds here lol.
Its ruined actually going to a fast food or take away shop, as you end up having to wait ages while they deal with all the angry looking delivery drivers before sorting your order out, it sucks.
Yes, that's why i do rip them and store them on hard drives (the best ones at least). Other than that they only need to last as long as i do :)
Apart from disc rot lol, thought i haven't had that yet, and i think its pretty rare.
Interesting, you had me at "super cheap", i'll go investigate 😃
I suppose music takes up less hard drive space, so not as expensive, i need more drives before i can do a decent server for my films and stuff, one day hopefully...
Yep, though my way round it is to be friendly with the staff and let them know the things i look for, sometimes, they will tell me when something comes in and give it to me at a decent price ;) Nintendo games are the worst though, i gave up collecting SNES games as i can't afford anything that i want.
Space is a problem, I keep running out of walls to put shelves on :)
I've started putting things in suitcases under the bed.
Video games are extortionate, except ps3, xbox360 games, which are currently pretty cheap.
I got lucky with mega drive/Genesis games when I found a stash of them in a charity shop for next to nothing a few years ago, unfortunately that only happened to me once, I think recently charity shops check everything on eBay to price stuff, so you sometimes see crazy prices on old rubbish because "it is on eBay for that much", sure but it probably never sold at that price. :)
I would love to have that too if I'm honest :)
Very true, I'm new here but loving it so far, I dont really do social media at all, but this feels better.
Agreed.
Vinyl was out of my budget but I'd love to own a load of records, hopefully one day :) I think they sound great.
Yes that's the one :)
Not sure, I still see new films and TV series turn up at my local supermarket (I was tempted to get the fallout series on blu ray), but overall I think its way down, lots of places just have a few of the more popular big budget things and nothing else.
Thank you :)
I need to figure out the home server thing, I'll make it my next project :)
Thanks, I want to do more, I download old tech and computer magazine scans and also artwork from the 50's and 60's, but I can't preserve the whole internet, much as I want to :) my hard drives are already begging for mercy.
I seen "you'll own nothing" as a challenge lol, if you can't physically hold it you don't really own it I think.
Over the last 2 years I've bought over 1300 DVDs (and blue rays) and over 600 CD's.
I've also got loads of retro games (from atari 2600 up to ps4) on cartridge and CD.
I want to own my own medi., I've seen too many examples of things being edited, censored or banned, and I want to have the original.
Plus, I don't have to deal with adverts, reduced quality, lack of internet or monthly charges. Most of the films and music I got came from charity shops for virtually free (some shops do 5 or 10 dvds for the equivalent of $1.
Most people think I'm insane :) but they can go do face scans to listen to their favorite metal album on Spotify, I'll carry on doing my thing :)
Good morning nostr. I got rain, lots and lots and lots of rain...
Onwards and upwards :) I hope the new generations reject the nonsense of the ones before and sort things out.
Thanks for the warning :)I'll be sure to do that.
Haven't seen it before, I'll go check it out, thank you :)
I'll do that, when I figure that out :) thanks
I seem to have ended up here by accident :). What is this place and what do I do? Help lol
hello world, I just made this account on https://nostr.com! #introductions
