Good morning nostr, its supposed to be another beautiful weather day, the rooster is crowing, and my coffee is hot. A good start to another busy day, as i'm volunteering at the church kitchen this morning, then we have to run some errands in town, then i need to finish cleaning the bnb cabin. But i'll be sure to make some time to get some sunshine and enjoy the outdoors for a while. Super simple dessert

6 daylily flowers

3 cups raspberry sorbet

3/4 cup fresh raspberries

6 sprigs fresh mint

Pick flowers in the morning. Wash them and remove stamens refrigerate in covered bowl.

When time fore dessert, place each daylily flower in a goblet (whatever!) fill each with 1/2 cup raspberries sorbet. Top with 1/8 cup fresh raspberries and sprig of mint. Serve immediately.

1/2 teaspoon salt

11/2 cups rice

3 cups water

1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon water

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon oil

1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

1 red bell pepper, cut into long thin slices

3 cups fresh daylily buds

Cook rice

Combine vinegar, soy sauce, water and sugar until dissolved. 5 minutes before rice is done, heat oil in skillet or wok until very hot. add ginger and stir briefly. Add red bell peppers and stir a few times quickly. Stir in vinegar mixture. Toss daylily buds to mix well. Cook just until daylily buds are heated through. Serve with hot rice.

Expanding the garden this year with two new 100 square ft beds. I like 25x4 beds for a lot of reasons. I will plant potatoes in both beds. That is my usual sequence, first year potatoes, build soil, second year peas or beans, build soil, so on and so forth. The first time I build a bed it’s quite the chore with my rocky soil I try to double dig but usually it’s the pick axe all the way. I can usually fill up 6 or 7 wheel barrels with rocks per bed. After that it’s no till except for in rows that I want to plant carrots, I have to sift out the rocks if I want decent carrots.
