I personally would rather see it kept separate. Don’t think it makes sense to mix a bridge relay in with the other relays for publishing and it probably wouldn’t bring any new data in with the follow+ filter right? Seems like specialized relays are better left as optional
Got it! Thanks!
Do you have fancy wired headphones? I think I saw a post the other day pointing out that you won’t notice a difference unless you’re wired. That’s a level of audiophile beyond me
It is! Sort of by accident I ended up connected to 75 relays in a development build of Nos. I just moved the event processing to a background thread and the app is surprisingly performant even 75 open websockets constantly streaming events in. You can see the FPS dropping a little and some of the avatar images are slow to load, but for an app that's 3 weeks old I'm pretty stoked! Here's a video of it: https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/1165004/223445887-cae1ed7c-b8e6-4a0f-942b-db464485bf6b.MP4
Wen TestFlight :)
The Wikipedia isn’t a bad read on the topic if you aren’t familiar. It definitely has some interesting properties that might be good for the health of a community-driven project IMO
And could use it on the funding side in the same way I suppose.
One of the biggest limitations of QV has always been identity, but you’ve potentially mitigated that by the way the participant tree is built. I suppose participants could easily game the system by creating multiple identities so you would need to be quite careful there.
In this case would as simple as `vote power = (shares * leadtime) ** .5` I think.
Very interesting. Excited to read more! Might be worth considering quadratic voting as a potential mechanism as well
Makes sense. Energy capital of the world!
I lived in Houston for a while. Loved that city and wish I hadn’t moved right before more of a bitcoin scene popped up
I don’t see it either… even weirder is that I don’t see anyone being awarded the badge
Flashback to this fun article. Went to the place in SF that won and it was awesome. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/americas-best-burrito/
filter.nostr.wine is always my advice to nostr noobs. It’s truly a game changer
#[4] did you see this? Not sure if it’s helpful to you all
1. Client agnostic:
- use all paid relays
- use filter.nostr.wine relay to aggregate events of your follows and their follows from the public relays
2. If your client allows it turn off just the public relays in the universal feed or
3. Find free relays that do some spam filtering like nos.mom and use above two steps.
Who is working on this??
Oooooooh. No pop-up for default zaps is back on Damus! Long press only for custom is really nice.
That would have been one of the perfect use cases for cashu! If you had some tokens on your phone they could have accepted them and immediate withdrawn from the mint
Given that there is no consensus or scarcity built into nostr it seems like the perfect place for stuff like this. The biggest problem with NFTs was people trying to claim they were scarce because they were on a blockchain. So yeah, badges are similar, but so very different at the same time.
