Creating AI art. Making Nostr 👕 Just plain having fun!⚡️

And in just one sentence (+ an emoji) we learn just why nostr is better than all the other centrally-controlled social media platforms.

Hint: nostr is a protocol not a platform

Hint: like bitcoin, it is permission-less, no central authority can deny you access to use it

On Nostr, you verify yourself. No need to pay for a check from an authority that may or may not grant them. With your own domain, you can have your own check. It’s way better than the blue checks on twitter. You can get “verified” by other services if you wish, should you choose.

If you want a good guide on becoming verified, here’s a nostr.how how-to

Do you know what I like about nostr?

Everything.

There is goodness in this world.

When I do something kind I add to that goodness, literally making the world a better place.

Likewise, when I create something helpful to others, providing value.

Nostr and Bitcoin inspire goodness because for the first time, we have a money and a way to connect socially at scale that cannot be controlled by a centralizing organization.

The foundation for our interactions and transactions are solid and free of manipulation of controlling powers.

It’s beautiful.

A beautiful night in Nostrilandia

The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that’s required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust. Banks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve.

-Satoshi Nakamoto

Truth will ultimately prevail where pains is taken to bring it to light.

"The number associated with your cousin has to do with how many generations away your common ancestor is. For example:

First cousins share a grandparent (2 generations)

Second cousins share a great-grandparent (3 generations)

Third cousins share a great-great-grandparent(4 generations)

Fourth cousins share a 3rd-great grandparent (5 generations)"

The link also explains the once removed thing. Which is basically the difference if the generations back to the common ancestor are different. Bob's relationship to a child of Alice would be 2nd cousins once removed since Alice's child is one more generation away (3 hops) from the common ancestor than Bob (only 2 hops).

Second cousins.

There are two generations between Bob and the common ancestor shared with Alice. Alice also has two hops or generations between her and the common ancestor, so they are second cousins.

Hiding in plain sight.

Users can be drawn to nostr in two ways:

1. A Strong Pull: Features/Benefits not available on other platforms

2. A Strong Push: Old systems mess up enough people are "pushed" off and look for an alternative

As a protocol, Nostr has the potential to rocket past all the social media platforms.

Can't be censored = Awesome

Encrypted DMs = Fantastic

Buy from merchants directly using magic internet money and without having a third party like Amazon control everything? = Category Busting

Nostr right now feels like the very, very early days of Internet when only "email" as it would come to be called existed. Then Hyper Text Transfer Protocol shifted everything breaking the paradigm that the "Internet" was for replicating the mail system.

Nostr has the potential to take the categories and well-defined boxes we've placed around the Internet and bend, break, and craft them into something new and better.

Beauty in simplicity.

Overcomplicate things, and cracks emerge.

Midjourney. They allow free use to get started. I got the commercial account. It’s just too much fun!

Take a deep breath, and notice the beauty that surrounds us.

The Signal blazed across the night sky.

Time to answer the call and defend the city.
