There is no opensource translation model to run on the phone yet. There are online services, but those are a massive privacy issue because all your posts go over there. They can easily track you.

Vitor creator of #Amethyst. Is there, or could there be plans to implement an open source language translation feature?

Nostr is becoming very multicultural. It would be wonderful to have native support within the app for instant post text language translation without leaving it.

This would also provide a definitive edge for the overall onboarding experience for new nostr users as well. Allowing everyone to better communicate with each other regardless of where we are from in our own native tongues.

PSA: Some of you use nostr without a VPN and that's very very very bad. You should use a VPN, at all times, on you're phone and on your computer, especially on nodtr. Treat it as a gift to yourself and get one now, I recommend Mullvad, don't get a random VPN that is likely to be infiltrated by the gov.

I just noticed that when I save an Image (like a cool meme) in #amethyst, I am told that "Video saved to the phone's video gallery" ...

Ok, apparently the zap.store version of Amethyst does load my mute list, but I had to add a new hidden word for it to load properly. My "tame" version of Nostr with cats, art, and software development (minus the "Nostr Influencer" content) is back. Please don’t expose me to unfiltered Nostr content ever again.

A proper mute list really is the best algorithm.
