We're still working on laying IN the nesting boxes. Half the birds figured it out, the other half are close.

First compost pile turn of the season. It looks pretty good for chicken bedding that was piled up in the snow early last winter. The garden will love it next spring

Cinnamon, my "highland mutt", who smells like fish and corn chips, says GM Nostr!

And now I'm following

With my ridiculously northern climate, I've learned to just wait. There is nothing more frustrating than an early June frost (yes, june) knocking everything back and having to start over. Any direct seeded crops that can handle some cold get planted a few weeks early, as the soil warms up. Transplants wait until June 15 unless I have protection in place.

I've wanted bees for a long time, but our winters have been a challenge for most beekeepers I know. There's a chance I'm actually further north than you. ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿฅถ

How long have you had bees?

My strawberries just poked out through the snow yesterday. Following.

I have wanted to try that, but with good neighbors and only a dozen chickens I don't have much surplus.

The ladies are ready for some sunshine! She had a touch of frostbite this winter, but is doing great after getting through a long season.

I do! The compost is their old bedding, so chicken related. ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ˜†

It may not look like much, but it's the first time I've seen this compost pile in 6 months, and I'm excited. I cannot wait to get back into the garden.
