I only learned to love Go, once I had to work on code in a bigger team, and then had to maintain the services as a building blocks of a bigger product. On occasion I'd need to add a feature or update a service that has been working with no issues for 3+ years. I would have completely forgotten the codebase by that point but the code was always very maintainable and fast to grok. It's always my goto lang for backend services.

I've noticed how bad web search has gotten the past 2-3 years too. Just today I tried to find a blog post or article about the old joke that every tech company eventually tries to write a database. I remember reading a few very funny or informative articles during the years. Well I couldn't find a single result of quality and gave up after an half an hour. 🫤

Loved that book. From what I remember it was a lot easier to "opt out" back then. The amount of laws, regulations, kyc and surveillance is insane these days.

Agree with the sentiment but we need integrated wallets or better interop. Which wallets support nostr zaps? I only know of alby (invite only atm) and mutiny. Also onboarding to the lighting network (or any payments network) will always have more friction than onboarding people to a social network.

In my hindsight our society started going downhill from 2001 onward, but the data is pointing to the 70s.

The dumbing down of general education has been going on for at-least 3 decades in the west. I know what standard we were graded against and it was measurably higher for the STEM fields. Can't talk about the humanities but I hear it's even worse.

With the start of the new year it has officially been a decade and counting.

It is a real thing. I burn out once I forget how what I'm working on is useful or when the scope expands so much it feels like an unachievable goal post.

Get a break. Enjoy nature or the people you love. Recharge. Good Luck.
