There are surely techniques to acquire command line access to a server with publicly facing services by exploiting the accessible service and break out of the confines of that service into the OS.
If you're running software and possibly also an OS that you manage on a hosted server then surely there's a remote access service (eg: sshd) running.
I'm not saying it wasn't hosting provider, just that there's surely other layers that are also possible.
The most hardened services on the Internet get hacked. I feel for you and hope you can identify the point of entry and root cause.

I'm currently reading The White Pill by Michael Malice which I believe as you pointed out was published recently, 2022 sounds right.
I'm next going to reread The Cathedral and The Bizarre by Eric S. Raymond, which was published in 1999.
Subbed to repo and looking through issues tagged good first issue. It'll take me some time to get dev env setup and I should probably use Damus first too; I've been an Amethyst user because I am on Android.
Coinbase like a good little pleb. Just convenient to schedule a recurring monthly purchase so it's enough to make the fee worth it. Then I do a transfer to self-custodial wallet every few months.
I currently only buy #bitcoin with a dollar cost average strategy. I'm thinking about in addition to that setting up a small pool of USD on exchange and programming a bot to watch for any x% drop over y timeframe and automatically buy the small dips.
Anyone doing this currently and did you build your down tool or use something off-the-shelf?
