Bluesky is federated trash. Nostr, or the general idea of signing tweets and putting them on computers, is our only hope. The base model is here — time to build the wings. 🪽
would be nice to have a conversation with an open conversation with him
I think we have too much vitriol among these type of protocols whereas we (hopefully?) align on some of the goals
Or maybe I’m too naive
Honestly, I don’t see anything useful in Mastodon, BlueSky, or Farcaster. Equipping open-source algos would be cool, but I doubt that’ll transfer to nostr 1:1.
Let’s not make the mistake of the crypto space by trying to overly build bridges between broken protocols. Happy to take anything good that comes along though.
Mastodon was kinda nice before December 2022. After that it became occupied territory.
I should clarify that I meant being able to move your signed data from computer to computer… that seamlessness is the foundation for censorship-resistant scaling. Discovery and synchronization of data will eventually emerge and amplify nostr, but that base is why I’m here.

Nostr is the obvious choice to anyone who believes in freedom
Forget Bluesky #Nostr is the way, here's a quick vid to onboard normies: https://m.primal.net/HnUB.mp4
Great vid. No quite for normies though. They just don’t care.
Interested to learn when Bluesky lost its way and was abandoned for Nostr.
The protocol is way too complicated to implement, so there is only one provider and app. It's basically centralized already, and they even hired a moderation team.
Way too much friction, game over man

Don’t be a stranger
🖖🏻
pay my man to show up for me
How much?
ask him
or are you him?
maybe I am, maybe I am not. How would you know? Maybe I’m a little girl who knew everything for sure since Omaha was president. Maybe the whole wild world has gone crazy and only now they believe that you have not been.
maybe it’s a clown world and we are just spectators in the circus.
Are you him? Who’s him?
🤡
you know I have made it very clear I will meet anyone interested at Bitcoin Miami energy conference this year
obvious preference for jack patrick dorsey's presence in person (minus voyeur)
To do the music conference again?
Certainly great parties.
Any particular venue?
Opium was great. Is that still open?
I said Miami, since there was no decipherable response
score some pods, smoke the resin, and announce your findings=whatev
Contrary to the quantum, my saying holds true, and kinda awkward for some standards to be broken by a pot smoking play boy.
it seems you just like to play the quips game
I don't understand this. They don't just use a key?
B1tc01n.
Where do you disagree? I'm honestly very confused about the differences between Nostr and Bkuesky and your views on each of them.
Your enthusiasm for Nostr is noteworthy given your significant involvement in Bluesky.
Bluesky is built around the desire by people to avoid each other. Nostr is designed to bring people together.
✨💜💥🥊 nostr 🌿
✨🧡💥🥊 bitcoin 🪨
pretty powerful together :)
BITCOINERS CARE ABOUT FREE SPEECH AND JUSTICE. AND THEY UNDERSTAND TECHNOLOGY. THE NEXT GROUP TO JOIN NOSTR WILL BE JOURNALISTS AND HUMAN RIGHT ACTIVISTS. AND DEMONETIZED YOUTUBERS OF COURSE.
He's right regarding the fact that the community here is almost indistinguishable from the bitcoin one.
he is 100% right, people here only want to talk about bitcoin and nostr
I dont think bluesky will replace twitter but at least people there talk about other subjects
people here can talk about ANYTHING they want but they chose b1tc0in lol
It's just not just the fact that they only want to talk about Bitcoin, Even if someone brings up a different topic, everyone tries to steer the conversation back to Bitcoin in the replies. Everything have to revolve around Bitcoin. Personally, I don't mind it it just feel like a Bitcoin subreddit. I mean, I'd rather scroll through other social media platforms because they discuss a variety of topics. The only thing that bothers me is that they don't seem to understand why Nostr isn't taking off and becoming mainstream. Well, one reason is that it's all about Bitcoin, and let's face it, 98% of the world couldn't care less about Bitcoin. I get being passionate about something, but really to an outsider all this 'orange pill' and 'normies' talk sounds like cult languag
I think it's worse than a Bitcoin subreddit (except for the fact that Reddit went to shit due to no longer being FLOSS and due to moderation).
Subreddits are individual sections for people that talk about all sorts of topics. You talk about stupid things, you make jokes, you make memes and you ask topic-specific things about what you wish, including Bitcoin.
This is like a whole fucking social media platform for people absolutely obsessed about Bitcoin. You "estimate" that "98% of the world couldn't care less about Bitcoin", but even the 2% that do don't need to be more obsessed by it than by any other tool they use.
I use many tools. I'm not constantly talking about any specific one of them.
Most people who are really passionate about a topic, which is admirable, are interested in something which is rather wide, things like programming, mathematics, art. Even when it's more niche, they usually don't think everyone should be as focused on it as they are.
Money isn't really something one would normally be this obsessed about and the constant focus of one specific currency very understandably make people wary of Nostr.
yeah.. because no second best. no third best. lol
Wait, what about #bitcoin?
Nothing wrong with bitcoin, it's a currency that a lot of people are passionate about and also a looot of people (the majority of the world) aren't interested in Bitcoin. It doesn't make them stupid or ignorant; it's just something they're not interested in. I'm sure you're not interested in a lot of things other people are passionate about.
He is write, it's full of people of the corn. 🤣
the replies to this are the reason why people are wary of nostr.
What u mean tho
I talk about sailboat hiking and adventure , so you’re right ><
BlueSky is more hacker news friendly.
Nostr is more stacker news friendly...
Bluesky is full of circlejerk pronoun people with diagnoses in bio who talk about nothing else than how much they hate Elon Musk.
Yes, there's a lot of repetitive bitcoiners here on Nostr, but theres NOBODY that police my language and NOBODY that gives me the old Twitter diatribe about how I'm an evil, Bad Person because of my views.
Fuck Bluesky and all of the Stasi-wannabes it's populated with.
Imagine wanting to talk about stuff that isn't bitcoin.
Few understand this.

Everything relates to bitcoin
The water is all around the fish just like the technology of money is all around us. It’s an i escapable reality. Like nature. It just is 🧡
Such as Bitcoin Jujitsu
INCONCEIVABLE!!
Rookie
Madness

Right!?
I do that all the time. I don't care about BTC all that much. It's not a large part of my life. It's just another tool in my toolkit.

Nostr is so much more than just a protocol-based social media and the application of Nostr in the real-world is still developing over time. But we could enhance the use-cases.
Use-cases are the bridge between deep-tech and the people. From an execution perspective, it's your intermediary between devs and sales/marketing, and often a graceful and purposeful way of penetrating the market.
Numerous initiatives have been undertaken on use-cases for Nostr, for example Coracle's focus on Christian community growth and user testing in the US and Australia. Similarly, Madeira (Portugal) has spearheaded localized community development efforts, fostering grassroots adoption of Nostr and Bitcoin applications by nurturing developer talent. Other initiatives include live streaming for indie performers and cooking enthusiasts.
As we expand the use-cases, Nostr will naturally diversify.
An idea to have a Bitcoin and Nostr conference for children - basic programming and just tapping on their creativity on use-cases. Children have boundless imagination and are way more creative than adults - Picasso, Einstein, and many others have pointed this out. And children tend to have a can-do positive attitude and just genuinely curious. And these kids, especially those in under-served communities will become adults in 10 years time, and will have to figure life out. Having these platforms to explore various careers and create various solutions for their community might be a game changer for them.
These are just examples of use-cases and it merely scratches the surface of the myriad potential of what Nostr is - which makes it difficult for it to be an apple-to-apple comparison to anything out there right now.
Eventually Bitcoin and Nostr will just be base layers. The conversations will revolve around use-cases, grassroots applications and solutions. It will revolve around people, community and how it makes their lives better.
I'm okay with people who want to talk about things other than #Bitcoin. I welcome them.
Me too. When there are myriad topics and types of people is when nostr wins.
Only want to talk about #Bitcoin? That's BS. People also talk about Nostr
Farcastr = "red social insuficientemente centralizada."
Seguimos
#Nostr #Venezuela #ElSalvador #Mexico #Argentina #España #Bitcoin #Amethyst
Sometimes you only find the conclusion you're looking for in order to dismiss a truth you don't want to reconcile.
What does it mean if the most free social protocol, where anyone can talk about anything they choose, is mostly full of people openly talking about Bitcoin?
I'm glad there's another option for bitcoin haters.
I'm using Nostr to log my home construction project. 🚧 Would rather log it here than on a centralized service. nostr:npub1q0cf76ryw3a632ctln4pvkvgq0qz9e47w5rjqz4zn5wslqt0p4nqxj2sx2
