I switched to Linux Mint last year and haven't looked back. My gaming experience has been good. What games are you worried about?
Hey I just recently got rid of my 97 sierra! Loved that truck. Only reason I let it go was because the frame was starting to rot and the dealer offered me 1000$ for it (scrap value)
I think it's about solving problems. UX is important but remember that at some point in time, the concepts of a username and password and email address were very foreign to everyday people yet email still achieved mass adoption. I think the problem email solved more greatly outweighed the novel UX.
For nostr, people who care about digital sovereignty and decentralized social media are coming/have come. They don't care about the UX. Normies don't care about digital sovereignty and decentralized social media and so for them the UX cons outweigh any benefit. Normies will come once nostr solves a problem for them.
Is git over nostr a thing? Or in the works?
Hot damn, I just read that Stackoverflow is partnering with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Stackoverflow. Regardless of how you feel about this move, it's certainly not coming from a place of strength. Stackoverflows traffic has been on the decline since early 2023 because of LLM usage.
This got me thinking, what if stack overflow can't be saved and the company shuts down. What happens to all those posts? This to me seems like a huge problem. Has anyone ever thought of 1. stackoverflow on nostr? 2. Archiving stackoverflow posts as notes? #asknostr #stackoverflow #openai #chatgpt
brainstorming ways with nostr:npub137c5pd8gmhhe0njtsgwjgunc5xjr2vmzvglkgqs5sjeh972gqqxqjak37w to improve video performance in Damus. I started documenting all of the steps to enable optimized video if anyone is bored and want to help out:
https://github.com/damus-io/damus/issues/2214
Weโve also been thinking about ways to make any video from the internet into an adaptive bitrate stream so that video loading is good across the board, but that might require a fancy video transcoding proxy.
gm nostr
Any consideration for streaming video over websockets? I found the latency to be super low this way.
You're in your twenties right?
What about countries with multiple timezones?
Cast iron 100%. All those going off about Teflon, y'all need to look into PFAS.
I like to think I'm pretty smart. I've had a very hard time running my own LN node. Starting with raspibolt.org my node froze up without me noticing and all my channels were force closed.
Tried again with a small lenovo thinkstation, my ssd Mount didn't persist after restarts, didn't notice for almost a year, again channels are force closed.
I can hear the "skill issue" in the distance. But the truth is running a LN node is hard. Even without the sys admin problems, I never figured out who I should open channels to, how much in those channels to be a good peer on the network. Tbh, I just don't have the time or interest in running a routing node. I much prefer the LSP model.
You're probably gonna get a lot flack from people for complying but I applaud you for thinking ahead on this issue. Easy to say don't comply when you're not the one facing a lawsuit.
I think the concern is more surveillance. Company I work for is a target for nation state actors and they are also banning tiktok
Where is this (country, no need to dox yourself :))? :o
-_- we have gitlab issues, JIRA, email, teams dms, teams channels, also microsoft word comments. Jira is the worst one though, absolutely hate that tool.
Is it actually rare that people fully switch from twitter to nostr? I deleted all my social media accounts and then joined nostr. Fuck Twitter/X (no offense Jack).
May be too early but it would be cool if Amethyst could be used in NIP-97 logins. Like if I use amethyst to scan a NIP-97 QRcode to log into some service.
My vote is on NIP-97
