I feel like it's really dangerous to be crying fraud without any actual evidence. You can't just point to circumstances like "oh its taking so long, must be fraud". Be vigilant, do investigate but call fraud only when you're 110% sure its fraud. Otherwise you erode trust in democracy.

What do you recommend for reach? Using particular hashtags?

I encourage you to go to Poland and see for yourself. My gf is Polish with family members who perished in the holocaust. Her aunt was killed by a firing squad for rebelling against the Nazis. I'm not gonna judge too harshly but I do find it baffling that people think this shit didn't happen

I live in Canada and sourdough isn't illegal. Here's a bakery in Ottawa that sells sourdough bread: https://www.breadbyus.com/

If you read the article, it says "A last-minute change to the bill specified that platforms must offer an alternative to making users upload identification documents." Sounds like there will just be sonething like an age gate like one rated M games on steam. Its still worth opposing for privacy reasons. I'm with you but its not a doomsday scenario yet.

Yeah reading that thread was like hearing all the reets explain why they're voting for trump: they made up their mind a long time ago and the reason make sense in their head, not when spoken outloud.

I'll watch it but companies have been caught faking and cherry picking for demos. This should be taken with a pinch of salt. Give me actual research papers, peer reviewed

Dude what AI are you using to think this? I've tried keeping an open mind and tried it over and over, have read countless research papers and watched countless videos discussing it and it all points to the fact that its not as good as you and others like you are claiming. In most situations where AI is marketed to be useful, at best its sometimes helpful, at worst its downright wrong. As a coding assistant, it always gets in the way, can really only help with boilerplate and even then stack overflow is usually better, more reliable and faster. And the research is showing these things are not improving at the rate that the Open AI CEO types are claiming and is even plateau-ing. I'll finish by saying if AI is really that good and us ludites are wrong and are GMI, then shut up and prove it. Build something to obsolete me.

Idk I get appealing to newbies but nostr is inherently not for newbies if we think of newbies in the stereotypical sense. We have keypairs and relays. I don't philosophically align with the idea we should hide this fact when its so core to the protocol. nostr.com should tell people about what nostr is. No bs, no cheap comparisons. Individual clients can do the hand wavy stuff, comparisons, etc.

That's a dishonest representation of the law. If you mis gender someone intentionally or not, you can be charged with a criminal offense, yes. But in court, the burden is on the accuser to prove you did so intentionally and with malicious intent. So far in Canada at least, I've not heard of anyone being charged, let alone convincted for doing it unintentionally. Intention is the key here. I'm not defending the law or the morality of doing this but let's be honest and not change the truth to fit our narrative.

I don’t really understand this kind of criticism (and not to pick on Will here, it seems to be from ~everyone).

Bluesky took a different approach - first build a product people want whose technology supports decentralization, and add the features the geeks want later. It’s easy to shit on their lack of decentralization, but Bluesky has made clear and consistent progress on that front since day one, and I assume they will continue to do so.

The result has been a product that’s growing (those user stats are pretty realistic, doubly so when you look at the number of accounts actually posting real content) way more than nostr with tons of anti-centralization features that nostr is missing (anyone can create a feed algorithm, and there are many, decentralized content tagging is a really cool innovation - different “adult content” tagging services, opt-in different moderation services, etc).

The federated model of Mastodon led to a trainwreck of fiefdoms run by weirdly obsessive and controlling mods, but Bluesky took that and addressed the issues by splitting moderation from hosting.

Sure, Bluesky’s hosting model means you don’t get the relay-redundancy that sets nostr’s censorship resistance apart, but that’s not all that hard to add in the future (with the sync assumption they make making it easier to make efficient, too).

Building the kinds of stuff Bluesky has on nostr is gonna take a huge investment, we can’t leave folks like Will stuck building critical nostr apps by himself. nostr:note1vpteqdxxlgkjndhghhlu4n47aj2sra5vgmdr465y4yfzwcshglvqrqann4

I think it speaks more to the culture of nostr. Very bitcoin culture tangential where if you're not with us, you're against us. Everything else is bad, fuck nuance, fuck actually researching and looking at facts. So long as you post "gm, zaps and DVMs are the future, NGMI", that's what nostr mostly is right now. There's a few high signal accounts worth following here but otherwise its just a bunch of noise. I'm probably part of that noise, hoping to change that soon.
