Wtf? I just learned that there's a one-hour interval every year that simply cannot be represented when daylight savings time ends (in regions that respect it) when using RFC 5545 iCalendar / ISO 8601 format if you want to specify a time zone identifier. This is the format that Google Calendar and most calendar apps follow.
The only way around the issue is to use numerical time zone offsets (which in itself can be error prone due to the need to understand daylight savings and does not conform to the iCalendar spec).
I'm working on NIP-52 calendar events, debating between using Unix timestamps and following the iCalendar format for maximum interoperability. The fact that there's a meaningful interval of time that can't be represented in the latter format seals deal for me, unless I'm missing something. That's pretty messed up.

Iālol throw my hat in for the unix timestamps. Each client app should be able to localize on the fly, and then you donāt have to worry about data going stale when regions switch time zones.
YES. Free water is best water. How do you control the drip system?
nostr:npub16zsllwrkrwt5emz2805vhjewj6nsjrw0ge0latyrn2jv5gxf5k0q5l92l7 I suppose I can mention myself too.
In Satellite you can click āCommunitiesā in the side menu and there will be a Create Community button on the next screen.

I agree that I want posts in communities to not show up as normal notes for all my followers. Iām sure itāll be added as an option soon.
A recent photo of my garden

Testing out the new reddit-like communities on satellite.earth! Here is a photo of my garden from a few weeks ago. The snap peas have grown up about a foot and a half past the trellis now which I'm not totally sure what to do about (should I prune them?). They have been producing a lot - I can pick a handful of pods every few days. Other than that I haven't harvested much besides some spinach and arugula. Looking forward to maybe the first tomatoes when I get back home next week. What are you growing?
If you are seeing this in a Nostr client that doesn't support communities yet you can view the community this was posted in here: https://satellite.earth/n/gardening/npub16zsllwrkrwt5emz2805vhjewj6nsjrw0ge0latyrn2jv5gxf5k0q5l92l7
This release has a bunch of optimizations, along with some basic UI for reporting posts using NIP-69 vocabulary.
Trying to get one final build of Nos released before I head out for #DWebCamp.
hey all, I would like to crowdsource this client comparison list. If you have 10 mins this week - could you help fill based on the clients you use. Anyone can contribute, the more, the better it gets.
Just be wary, as itās real time editing - if you delete anything, itās gone forever.
You are welcome to add more sheets to track edits, add reliability comparison or anything else you want to compare between clients. If you want to host this initiative, that would be even better.
This information is for all. I am only doing this out of curiosity. If you are a client dev, you can use this as a marketing avenue as well as some input for your next development. For everyone else, go wild with it. Many thanks in advance

There was a similar chart at https://nostr-ings.com but it seems like it is being rebuilt. I went ahead and added colums for Nos and filled them out.
Iām impressed at how much they swallowed at once. It seems like they solved the screen door effect, and if the eye tracking/finger pinching input methods work as well as they want it to it will really be a huge step forward for VR/AR. The fact that all iOS apps will work on it from day one is huge too. The simulated eyes on the front really creep me out.
Where are the people that were designing a full-on web of trust architecture on Nostr? They messaged me a couple of months ago but I cannot find them anywhere. I hope they didn't get discouraged from implementing it.
They had some cool ideas to individually declare levels of trust in Nostr. For instance, I would trust nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx to help me choose my hardware wallet, but not my vegetables.
We are getting to a point where that level of detail can actually be helpful.
I would like to know too. nostr:npub1avar8zfzwswhq9xh3t0gc5l38pf5kesrkqe2s2ymrnymv3ddl2ps38t7kg has been working on Notabot.net which is a specific kind of web-of-trust, but I donāt think thatās what youāre referring to. At Nos we talk about implementing TrustNet a lot, but itās not in the short-term roadmap.

Spent some time this morning reading about the Name Name System, and UCANs. Sounds interesting. Maybe itās a better route for human readable names on Nostr, because it isnāt tied to DNS like NIP-05. UCAN uses DIDs under the hood, so Iām sure nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 will be on board. Does anyone have experience using this stuff? Or anything else from Fission?
