There's a character in The Mandibles that I thought was very unrealistic until this week: the fiat economist who aggressively denies reality and gets angry whenever inflation is mentioned in his presence.
I was talking to a nocoiner friend and he got agitated when I mentioned inflation, as if it was some kind of misinformation. Everybody buys shit, how is it possible to ignore the reality of inflation in 2023? It takes an act of willful ignorance.
