More than a 100 new people connected to my little nostr profile. And the difference in quality of connections is astounding in this nostr group vs 100 ‘followers’ on x. Which for me always look like bots.
If there is an information war. And ‘this’ is the place where it plays out.. then we might just all be strolling into a warzone, daily, in our shorts and flip flops. Oblivious to whats going on around is.
Nostriches much less so of course.

Curious how your experience is. I had to get used to ‘missing’ the little dopamine hits you get from the colors. You get accustomed quickly though.

This is so much more true than I realized. This week I posted a couple times I wanted to connect to great engineers enthusiastic about llms and building tools to leverage them. Mainly because I really want to get away from Linkedin.
Before I knew it I was chatting with a couple of people in the comments and dms, all whom feel like genuinely great people.
Jumped on a call with one of them yesterday and we had an amazing 2 hour conversation on a Friday night. We could have talked through the night.
The whole experience was like a podcast with a fantastic guest - instead of a ‘job interview’.
It might be a coincidence or I gravely underestimated how much value Nostr already brings.
To value a network - doesn’t Metcalf’s law exclusively look at # nodes and # connections?
