M2 isn't perfect, but it shows that we've had much more value stolen from our money than most think.

The Reply Guy attacked helped clarify for me the two fundamental mechanisms for ‘permissionless’ systems to moderate themselves. The first is Proof of Work, where energy needs to be expended, the second is Web of Trust, where a relationship needs to exist between an existing ‘known’ npub and newly ‘unknown’ npub.

These two mechanisms counter spam: the first requires an energy cost, and the second requires a relationship cost.

Anyway, despite the annoyance of Reply Guy, it was a very valuable learning lesson.

I think people on the left want to feel like they are fighting for something, but they will only fight for issues once they are basically solved because they are mostly cowards. Race & homosexuality aren't actually serious issues anymore which means the most cowardly can feel safe acting like they are fighting some grand evil that they have simply imagined. And in so doing their irrationality & their effort to find or create some pushback to confirm the belief that there is actually a struggle, causes them to behave in ways that are horrible & ultimately foster a deeply unhealthy culture, which then becomes associated with all the things they claim to defend, granting legitimate reasons to oppose anyone associated with any of it. I think the "progressive" left is more destructive to gay people than any group of bigots could ever hope to be.
