Kicking the tires like I tend to do. I don’t think there’s going to be one platform that comes out “the” single winner. I think several will for VERY different reasons.

Curious how this one is progressing and also trying to find out if I can make it more my cup of tea by following a few more people. 😎

nostr:npub18jgxqshg38cgzcv43zvqhnc7hjn223psy2kkmkpqt2azd9thyy4sxjc5gt I was going to look through who you were following here but it’s 500+ people so I have a Q for you:

Who are the top 10-20 people I should follow who are a bit more normie here? Or even who you really think I would find interesting.

Any chance #Nostr might get mute words at some point?

I’m thinking that being able to temporarily mute the word Nostr might actually help me find non-nostr topic posts.

Bonus question: any new, good, trustworthy iPhone apps beyond Damus available for Nostr yet?

Testing 1 2 3

Last three posts using Damus didn’t work here so….

Since a lot of people are trying a lot of platforms this year, this may be one of them.

I posted this elsewhere yesterday but if you ever set up a Spoutible account, you need to change your password. If you connected to Mastodon or Bluesky, you should revoke tokens and passwords to this platform.

Pretty serious list of lost data:

https://www.troyhunt.com/how-spoutibles-leaky-api-spurted-out-a-deluge-of-personal-data/

#spoutible #infosec #socialmedia #haveibeenpwned

Well that’s interesting - I KNOW I posted a car photo here and had a conversation off of it awhile ago now and I don’t think it was a conversation I deleted but I’m not seeing it.

I will try looking for it other apps later to see if it’s just this one being weird on me at the moment.

Local news seems to grab whatever the highest number that comes in might be especially if it’s rare. I remember we got something like a 1.1 somewhere near me once and the news was alllll over it because I think it was the only earthquake in 40 years? Something like that. 🤦‍♀️😂

Annnnd I didn’t realize it wasn’t. 🤦‍♀️ It’s absolutely implied that it’s fully an opensource project.

BUT I would also be ok with the idea of there being a core team working on the first portion of the protocol simply for speed’s sake as long as there’s an opensource audit going on with the team listening to feedback (you can’t take action or prioritize everything all at once and some people don’t get that too. Gets tiring watching people scream at devs who are in fact trying to listen but are also trying to get something to the next stage as well.)

Wait what? Doesn’t this mess with the whole underpinnings or am I reading that wrong? The nips changing portion. And doesn’t that mean it’s an attack vector for something malicious?

Also I have two thoughts on knowing who is working on protocol level dev: 1) I have been wondering who exactly is involved here and didn’t know if I just hadn’t researched it yet and thus didn’t know or if it wasn’t public 2) I know it could lead to harassment of the devs so I can also see why someone might want to remain anonymous.

57 of 99 I think I need to spend some time on GitHub to understand how that’s even possible …

5.4 would have made bigger news nationally. 3.6 near Chicago is still startlingly larger than I had thought it would be though 😲:

It lasted beyond 2012 IF you were using some publishing tools. I think sprout social was one that I could either see what was being used still? It’s hard to remember everything but I know it was 2019 and I was seeing some info somehow.

I was checking out what tools certain accounts were using because it helped me figure out if there was something new I should be checking out (more for marketing than for personal though, I was looking for power tools basically to help me stay on top of event marketing.)

Honestly it might help me here if it were accurate. Or even if someone wanted to pretend to be on something it would bring awareness. 🤷‍♀️

Small earthquake I assume? I have USGS set to send me an email for anything 6 and over worldwide.

Sooooo #Nostr outside the US question - is this US dominant at the moment?

Earlier I had my VPN pulling fastest location which for some reason was in England. This seemed to mean all 11 relays I normally have had me blocked.

Semi- related question: do any of the relays have status pages should there be something that takes them out? It took me a minute to realize it was my “location” cutting me off.

But what if some malware takes out large numbers of relays?

For anyone who is on Bluesky - this is the post and the related blog post where you can really see how it bridges:

And for anyone not on Bluesky, the blog post here is connected to Bluesky and I think Mastodon so the comments at the bottom are definitely partially from bluesky :

(In short: bridges can be a good thing… even if you don’t like Bluesky.) nostr:note1nlzfl0w3j9j5kzxq40rf6q84zdqxwd4g3r26jxeqt2qc8kwf2fdqrppve5

PS - yeah I like Bluesky but I want more than one project and protocol to succeed here. It’s not an us vs them situation.

I wouldn’t outsource but it’s a good place to sift through if that’s possible.

First Mastodon Instance I joined had some beef with some other mastodon instance and I never could figure out why (but it made it a walled garden.)

Easy peasy, Next question (since I obviously don’t spend enough time here.) Are there any mute lists anywhere? So I can proactively mute certain known accts?

Hey nostr:npub1504jj42t6flu5l6n7e389e9mt8gxduhnzuyv7dq4gr95w20mmpqscx0cg0 is there a way I don’t know about to stop the very blatant spam comments on Nostr? Like it’s clearly not relevant to the post or response kinds of spam. Or does everyone just ignore it here?
