tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito Better a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war. Stay humble and study #Bitcoin.

Proof of walk would show the footprints though. 😁

Say what you want about Elon Musk.

He does good stuff, he does bad stuff, but he's still one of the best memer out here :

Hardest part was to not fuck up the folding. 🙂

I’m in the arena trying stuff. Some will work, some won’t. But always learning.

#foodstr

A dozen people tried it.

They ditched it pretty quick.

For extraverts : audience is too small.

For introverts : no enough content.

Very happy to see nostr:npub1hcwcj72tlyk7thtyc8nq763vwrq5p2avnyeyrrlwxrzuvdl7j3usj4h9rq keeps shipping in non-authoritarian countries. 😍

I hope this man lives up to the hype and more, because it’ll be something to behold.

Seeing a lot of people going “LOL nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx told you so ! We told you so ! Rugged!” after Wallet of Satoshi announced they’re withdrawing from the US, allegedly from regulatory risks due to their non willingness to enforce whatever KYC BS the US has asked/will ask them.

First, please show me someone who lost funds using WOS before talking about rugs.

Second, if you think the problem is with WOS withdrawing from “The Land of the Free 🇺🇸”, rather than said “Land of the Free 🇺🇸” having become more and more like the autocratic regimes it used to fight against, and slipping away from the spirit of the US constitution, I invite you to check your privilege, and then try to leave the US with all your capital.

Third and last point, whatever you think about Wallet Of Satoshi, it was just one (greatest) option for a LN wallet. It’s beyond me how you can think it’s a win to remove optionality from users.

I’ve onboarded a lot of people to Bitcoin by just buying them a beer through WoS, which led to many to discover the Bitcoin rabbit hole over the next weeks and months, and then they ended up with self custodying their cold stack.

Now I dread trying to offer an orange pilled beer, when first I’ll have to warn people that there’s a 10k setup fee, some channels opening fees, that there might be force closures… in a high and rising fee environment.

Don’t lose the plot. Be objective. Don’t fight the wrong battles.

And good morning.

What rug exactly?

Who lost funds?

US Citizens just got one less option for their LN wallet, courtesy of the land of the free.

What is there to unwind, exactly?

WoS will keep operating in the rest of the free world. US people can withdraw their funds to any wallet of their choice, and they’ll have one less option for using LN.

Will be very fun onboarding normies on self-custody LN wallets in a high fee environment.

This guy is a talentless Jim Cramer.

Cramer always gives bad takes and wrong advices, but at least he's entertaining.

Good morning,

I've just spent 20 minutes reviewing my ~250 Twitter followers.

Out of the 100 that I blocked, half were impersonators, other half were random e-girls.

And many were verified.

I'm a random anon that has no value, yet still 40% of my twitter followers were basically botnets looking to scam people, so I can only guess it's worse for highly visible accounts.

On top of that, crypto and nft scams are making up to 80% of my ads.

I'm very happy Elon disclosed some of the Twitter Files (the reporters with access to the files got fed whatever Elon & lawyers handpicked, though.), and that there is less speech suppression on Twitter (even though speech is still highly manipulated through the "For You" feed + opaque payouts to influencers), but unless you pay/KYC, it's now a "read-only" medium.

I can't wait to stop using this "social network" as soon as enough people I care to read from will have made the switch to nostr as their main "free speech" outlet.

To make that happen, I believe we need to spend more time advertising and onboarding people there.

As nice perk, once much more non-bitcoin people will have made the switch, nsec management good practices would partly translate into private keys management good practices... after some of these people inevitably fall down the #Bitcoin rabbit hole.

Musk’s Twitter/X has recently lost a lot of big advertisers after some seeming endorsements that Musk made on some anti-Semitic posts.

Do I think Musk is anti-Semitic? No. I just think he is a cuck, frankly.

Like, he will say one thing if the wind is blowing that direction, and then say the other thing if the wind starts to blow otherwise.

He cares what Xi Jinping thinks which is pretty consistent, and cares about the political tide in the US which blows back and forth. His recent anti-Semitic confirmations were likely just an instance of him leaning too quickly in one way, and being caught out on it. He tried to be vague but it didn’t work. And then he backpedaled.

Meanwhile, Musk also actively caters to leaders of countries that request (and receive) the most content takedown requests on Twitter/X, like Modi and Erdogan, as long as they are potential markets for SpaceX and Tesla. Under the leadership of Musk, Twitter/X statistically agrees to government takedown requests for content at a much higher rate than the company previously did. It’s just mostly outside of the US now, so all of our domestic discourse is about freedom.

Musk previously catered culturally more to woke folks, like in 2021 when he said Tesla would resume accepting bitcoin payments only when bitcoin was over 50% “clean”. He needed those ESG vibes back then. But now that the woke trend turned into a based trend, he shifted to ride more on that one instead. He posts way less about the environment and way more about socio-cultural issues now.

Musk is likely not dumb/small enough to be personally against any particular ethnicity or religion of people as a group. He clearly thinks bigger and more pragmatically than that.

Instead, he is just trying to stick his finger in the air, measure the winds, and lean in any momentum direction culturally.

Meanwhile the large corporate advertisers like Apple and Disney advertisers who dropped Twitter/X for advertising are also doing similar. They are pulling back in the heat of the moment to gauge public perception, and then will move forward slowly based on polls and research. It’s the same vibe as when they put up rainbow flags on their domestic Twitter/X accounts but then of course don’t dare do the same for their Middle East accounts. Region by region polling and brand management. Never genuine, always calculated.

Anyway, good morning.

Fair take.
