Flowers just because they're pretty!
On another note, dang pack rat found it's way into our truck engine bay. Husband only found one wire chewed. Now we're off to pick up some liquid electrical tape to repair it.

There are several varieties native to the Southwest, these are just what we have here at high elevation.
Their native range is California, Arizona, Southern Nevada, Southern Utah, New Mexico, Southern Colorado and West Texas. The growing zones are 5 - 9, our area is zone 7a-6a. There is a gaint on by one of my husband's clients but it gets regular water. This is just a plant growing in our fields and its had the open range cattle snack on it, so it's smaller.
From the little bit I can find on this specific species, Lycium pallidum or Pale Wolfberry, it does seem to have similar uses and nutritional value. The Anasazi people cultivated it and used it as food source and medicinal herb.
Wolfberries coming in! Incase you didn't see my first post on wolfberries, these are in the same family as goji berries but are native to the North America.

Oh so excited that place is still there! Totally forgot about it, we went there after Overland Expo in 2016, have to go back next time we're in Flagstaff!
Neither had we, but I'd basically have to carry him into the water and he'd swim for like a minute or two but then get out, now he'll actually play with the lab while in there. It's hysterical.
Apparently, he wore himself out stalking lizards today... he's dreaming with his eyes open.

I'm always for homesteading, if you feel it's the right time for you and the thought is constantly coming up then it might be the right time. The thing I always hear from the people around us that have been doing it for years is that you have to be willing to sacrifice for it and that it's hard work but completely worth it.
Hey a big part of gardening is just not giving up!
It's a type of Yucca!
