Oh cool! I’ve seen a few other freedom tech friends in Washington. We’ll have to do a meetup sometime.
My wife was telling me last night that to qualify for a food bank nearby, the income limit was $124k for a family of 3! Imagine a 6 figure salary and still not enough to buy food reliably.
I absolutely agree. The only use case of AI is offloading thinking. In some tasks, it can sort of make sense, but only if you’re willing to accept low quality, common denominator quality.
But I mostly only see people using it as a hack or shortcut. My thing is, if it’s low hanging fruit that Chatgpt can handle, it’s very likely not something that needed to happen in the first place.
I used it for the iOS app and quick onboarding to get familiar with nostr. But I understand it way better now. I knew out the gate that it wouldn’t be privacy strong, but just wanted to give it a shot.
I prefer to use it on mobile though, is there another client that does this well, without KYC? And handles zaps?
Exactly! Exponential growth is out of the VC playbook and leads to awful decisions in favor of growth at all costs.
Supposedly that’s coming too but I have serious doubts it’ll ever be feasible. It also most certainly be used to surveil you.
I find the people touting the “time savings” are ones that pursue productivity for productivity sake. “Chatgpt can answer my emails!” But if that’s the case, maybe the email never needed to be answered in the first place.
This is the real danger of AI. It’ll never be smart enough on its own to be a true danger, but the surveillance state this could create is 1984 on super potent steroids.
Beyond that, I just don’t even see the allure. Who tf wants some agent in their fucking ear all day? Why are we so hell bent on eliminating every bit of human experience?
If the White House determines that Chinese sourced electrical transformers, data centers and bitcoin mining hardware is "foreign-sourced equipment potentially capable of facilitating surveillance and espionage activities" we may have a problem.

There was a big cybersecurity story in 2017 or 2018 that china had been back dooring nearly every piece of hardware coming into the US. There was big talk about completely banning Chinese hardware at that point but nothing every happened.
Theoretically, any hardware can be utilized for surveillance if sufficiently engineered to do so in non obvious way. So, if the White House wanted to try to ban any hardware that could be used for surveillance, it’d basically cripple the entire economy. Otherwise, if they tried to single out mining hardware, I feel that would be a relatively easy lawsuit for singling out the industry.
Introducing Boardwalk Cash - the first dollar-based Cashu wallet built on top of #bitcoin and connected to #nostr.
We now have stablecash on bitcoin - completely interoperable with the lightning network.
Share your lightning address or invoice to receive dollars. Paste a lightning address or invoice to send dollars.
Boardwalk Cash connects to any nostr client via NWC. Zap dollars on nostr apps like nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg or on Discord with our Zap Bot.
This is a very early product and there are not many public mints, so use at your own risk. Yet, we’re excited to show some of what ecash and nostr can offer for advancing #bitcoin payments.

How do I NWC back to Primal? Works great, though!
I’m with you. The internet of today is depressing. Completely corporate, weaponized against normal people, all highly fabricated and manipulated. Nostr gives me hope we can do better.
Opt out. Don’t use tech that is designed to manipulate you.

I hope it’s possible, but I’m highly highly skeptical. Big tech has so many advantages and people blindly accepting everything they give them. It’ll take an unbelievable shift. I’d rather just live in the real world as a typical human.
The fun brave new world of digital assistants. Daniel Miessler ties it all together in a blog post: https://danielmiessler.com/p/ai-predictable-path-7-components-2024
This shit is so disturbing to me. Who tf wants to live like this??
We should definitely adopt the phrase “currency of distrust”. I rather like that.

Yes, more money = more trust! Of course! I know everyone feels more trusting of the government every time they go to the grocery store these last 3 years.
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell when asked about Stagflation:
“I don’t see the Stag or the ‘flation” 😂
Dear lord what a joke it is that people like this are literally in charge of how our money works (or doesn’t). https://v.nostr.build/Z5ZvE.mp4
The only part that’s a joke is that a good number of people actually believe this drivel. Powell isn’t stupid, but he believes all of us are.
