Wealth based systems are the future. #Bitcoin is the foundation for wealth based financial capital. Critical thinking is required. Bitcoin class of 2017.

Is anyone putting together a list of medical providers that accept Bitcoin directly, either on chain or via the Lightning Network?

Interesting idea. I frequently click on a profile and scroll through just to see if it's someone I want to follow. I'm not sure whether that would count as an interaction, I would only really want them added if I followed the profile.

What I really want to see someone do is network mapping, where we can see who we interact with the most and see circles forming over time.

Mood.

Needs a moat. With dragons.

As strong as my faith in Bitcoin is, I don't believe that Bitcoin will ever be the "only" currency in our civilization.

I hear what you're saying, though. If we are hard core into the Bitcoin ethos, then the only way to buy sats would be through proof of work and passive income is not work.

I haven't converted what I have yet, because I believe in the need for an income stream as well as a nest egg. But I stopped putting new capital into anything other than Bitcoin a few years ago.

The only income stream built into the Bitcoin system is mining. Which is difficult if not impossible to get into properly without a large amount of initial capital, which I do not have.

In a track race, everyone starts when the gun sounds. Everyone has a fair chance. We watch the runners, and we watch for anyone who falls, ready to help them get back up and continue the race. We track the winners and celebrate them, but we also encourage all of the runners to cross the finish line to the best of their ability.

I disagree with people that everyone must run at the same rate, that eliminates the very concept of the contest.

I also disagree with people who say that all of the rewards should only go to the winner, because that discourages people who know they are not fast runners.

Equality of outcome is not the goal. Equality of opportunity and making sure that nobody cheats and that nobody gets hurt, those are goals worth striving for.

Today I visited a school for mentally challenged and disabled kids that didn’t have a lick of AC.

Classrooms do have ceiling fans but they do sweet fuck all when it gets to a certain temperature.

It was 35 degrees + humid today but felt like 42.

That’s like when you open the oven door to check on your chicken.. every time you step outside.

Why was I there?

Well bitcoiners at btccuracao funded the school’s brand new WiFi.

I wanted to see the impact of this donation and speak to a poorer community about their experience with btc.

Btccuraco paid the internet company that installed the WiFi in Sats as part of the donation. It’s one of many grassroots initiatives they undertake to try to show that bitcoin is better money.

The new WiFi is a total game changer for the school and the teachers were tearful explaining how much it has helped them teach, inspire and lead these less fortunate kids.

But it only goes so far.

The solar panels atop the school’s long roof “stopped working” this week.

A govt contractor installed the panels this year as a “go green” initiative.

Long story of govt enraging incompetence short, basically half the school had working WiFi + ceiling fans. Sometimes the electricity simply cuts out.

So one half of the school had classrooms of engaged kids with YouTube access + useful visual aids for the kids in a semi manageable heat

while the other half slowly cooked and tried to read books in the inferno.

My white shirt was wet and transparent by the time I finished the school tour. I was like how the feck are these kids gonna get a chance in life?

I interviewed the head of ICT who was gushing about the new WiFi and was saying how some of the kids can now learn to code with this Minecraft coding thing.

She had the biggest heart. But like many islanders she had been crypto scammed a few years ago and was still really reluctant about bitcoin.

Really saddening because of course no sane person thinks “oh yeah I’m gonna learn about bitcoin now I sold my gold necklace for a crypto thing 5 years ago and never got the money back.”

I managed to send her some sats to say thank you but if I’m honest I think it’s coz I was recording this during the interview.

In all, I left the school utterly humbled and a little bit angry at the world.

I don’t have a nice thing to round off on, sorry.

Bitcoin doesn’t fix everything. And some things utterly suck.

Bitcoin does not fix anything. Bitcoin provides a solid capital foundation. so that we may build the solutions to the problems that we face.

Nothing to see here, just AI taking over Mars.

Yeah, starting to see bots in Messages. I play with my food long enough to report their profiles. Then I toss the algorithms into the sun. Or actually into solar escape velocity, which is less expensive fuel wise.

I muted the profile, and haven't seen a single post from it since.

I think for people who were familiar with Usenet, MySpace, early to Facebook and early to Twitter, Nostr is a very comfortable place to be. My feed consists of the profiles that I want to follow, nothing else. I post what I want without concerns or worry that it will get taken down or if it will be "controversial". I communicate with other humans, not bots or algorithms. I see NO advertising, NO corporations, and if I do see something I don't like, it is super easy to investigate the source and make a judgement call on whether to mute a profile or just move on. 90% of the time I just move on.

Nostr is where humans communicate. Corporate social media is where the human experience goes to die.

And the reality has always been that equality and equity are goals, not destinations. There is a big difference. The journey continues.

And not just random words to fill in a ratio number, but substantive commentary that adds your perspective and value to the overall conversation. I don't want to see my feed filled with single word meaningless drivel. Give me substance, or get out of my feed.
