Wealth based systems are the future. #Bitcoin is the foundation for wealth based financial capital. Critical thinking is required. Bitcoin class of 2017.

What I want to see are governance systems that manage our physical, legal, social and financial infrastructure in ways that are responsive, representative and responsible. The current "governments" on Earth have been failing miserably in those goals for hundreds of years, so if we could wipe them all away and replace them with systems that actually do the job we hire/elect them to do, that would be a step forward.

With a 20lb sledge hammer, multiple times.

Yes, it would cause short term inequality to spike, and it would cause hurt to a lot of people while the world adjusted to the new paradigm. It would be worth it.

Whether federal social programs got defunded would be a choice, and I would advocate that they not be ended, but that's just my voice. Taxation would not be impossible, people would just have a clearer understanding of where the money comes from and where the money is going. I personally don't have an objection to sending money to help "those people over there", as long as I know that those people actually need the help.

I don't think you are using the same definition of 'progressive' that I use. I don't know what definition you are using, because a balanced budget and transparent global financial systems that ensure that capital flows towards good causes and wealth/power doesn't get concentrated in fewer and fewer hands has been the entire purpose behind the progressive movement going back to the Magna Carta in 1215.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just seeing it a different way. every installation of IPFS Desktop is basically a node in that network. it's not necessary, but it's an example of how it could work. not everyone needs a fully featured node with all of the bells and whistles. but for just the simple things like maintaining a contact list, keeping copies of important notes and other stuff, keeping track of transactions and balances, seems simple enough to be operational on a cell phone platform. and in the early days of the Internet, almost nobody had cell phones. that took 15 years to fully develop.

I'm just saying, don't count out possibilities. we don't know where this is going, and the further we can get from centralized services, the better.

I have a dream of an educational institution for those who want to explore anything and question everything.

I know that sounds radical today, but I feel that's the true purpose of education. The dominant philosophy of academia today (in my experience) seems to be that the student is supposed to accept at face value anything presented to him.

There is no time for questioning the underlying assumptions or statements of the curriculum. Things are as they are and that is that!

Read this 1300 page textbook and let me know if you have any questions so I can tell you to read pages 100-156 again.

Now give us 50-100k+ and shut the fuck up.

Trust the science!

You are wrong because you don't have _insert degree_.

You can't say that here!

Interestingly, I used to think I would hate to be a teacher; I would in schools as they are today.

But I am deeply excited by the idea of teaching when I experiment in my mind with what a proper institution of exploration looks like for me. I can actually picture myself engaging with young (or older) minds and loving the process of education.

Pretty much everything touched by government and the fiat system is destroyed, including the passion of those within the affected systems.

Looking back, my state education after about the half way point (grade 6) was a total waste of my time. In fact, I think I became an adult worse off than I would have been if I had spent half the amount of time studying what I wanted to at the time, and the other half just being a kid or working a job when I was old enough.

Sitting in a hard plastic chair for nearly 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (with work to do on the weekends) felt more like prison than education.

Peace.

a version of Khan Academy built on Nostr would be useful.

whenever I see things like this I am reminded of what the head of IBM thought the market for computers would be in the 1960s.

Android mobile. Everything is super slow right now. We are on vacation in Massachusetts, wifi in suite and 5G Cricket are both amazingly slow. It's not just Primal though, seeing the same on Amethyst. But I'm really surprised that the relays are THIS slow...

and I mean, I don't want to send money to either Israel or Hamas, but to that mother whose home was just bombed and she only has one surviving child. No third party or government should be stopping us, they should be helping us identify and support the people who F*ING NEED THE DAMN HELP!!!

Identity confirmation via proof of ID, backed by a community rating system that can quickly and easily identify scams and fake IDs. I get PM on Nostr all the time from new profiles using well known names, and I just laugh at them.

I have some people in places like Kakuma that I would support a lot more if they could get the bandwidth to post.

I think their primary original market was deep analysis of corporate data. Makes me wonder if the Nostr devs could do something to compete with that, go after their bread and butter.

Warning! This is a bit longer post, but here’s my life-changing year in #Bitcoin 🧡 so far:

In April, I decided to come out of my online Bitcoin closet after hiding for 8 years. That’s when nostr:npub1ddgh3sspp42qjzk3sck0xp7zf203wv8mt86487n5n08jasp6pf9slsskjy was born. I simply renamed my old inactive personal X account and started posting about my passion - Bitcoin.

In June, I attended my first-ever Bitcoin conference at nostr:npub167n5w6cj2wseqtmk26zllc7n28uv9c4vw28k2kht206vnghe5a7stgzu3r, where I met Bitcoin Adam, who has been in the space since 2009.

Fast forward to September 3rd, I co-founded nostr:npub19520cyrrtpke62q0eraqy9w6g2qp63axrx5f3e693djdn47ff8cquyjvrd with Adam, with a mission to help Bitcoin-only companies spread the orange word. The team has rapidly grown into a global group of 16 Bitfluencers.

Now, six months after "coming out", I wrapped up an amazing time at #BitcoinAmsterdam, where I boosted the #Bitfluencers, #TheBitcoinMarketingTeam, met numerous amazing Bitcoiners, and as the ultimate highlight, had the honor of meeting the amazing Maya Parbhoe, who is running for president in Suriname 🇸🇷 and plans to clean up corruption with the Bitcoin Standard when elected 🧡🧡🧡

Since April, the Swiss Hodler handle has grown from practically zero followers to over 4,700 on X, and the Swiss Hodler company page on High Fiatland LinkedIn has gained over 2,700 followers since launching the page in June 🤯

Sure, I know that I’m still a MiCkEY MoUsE League Bitcoin “influencer,” but you’ve got to start somewhere 😉

Anyways, super grateful for all the followers and this amazing community! Happy that I stopped hiding 🙏

Next goal: find a paying #marketing gig/job in Bitcoin, as I’m too deep in the orange rabbit hole to work in the fiat business again without seriously damaging my soul 😎

Proof of Work!

Traveling makes me realize how transformative Nostr will be for the future. instead of dozens or hundreds of apps for each and every step of the journey, we will simply be able to log on via nsec or np into any of the many connected services, pay for everything as we go from a single interface, and never lose a receipt or reservation again. The future is very bright.

The world needs a taxi service that runs on a Bitcoin standard.

Mesh Networks like that for direct communications were all the rage during the Arab Spring uprisings and played a part in protest marches in the period between 2015 and 2020. Most of the apps slowly died because they required updates and the state started hounding the programmers. Having something like that come up from the grassroots fully supported by Nostr developers would be a major game changer.
