I’ve been meaning to update the list of Nostr resources I created a while back. Right now it is a good list of all the abandonware.. 😂

We have a few hidden solar powered nodes here mounted on trees or posts in places where there shouldn’t be too many people around to find them. As far as I know only one has gone missing so far..

New tiny and cheap LoRa board from Seeed Studio. These can run #Meshtastic so could be a good option for building small hidden nodes.

The things you do for Nostr or just life in general? I think the things you do for Nostr are great and other people definitely get value out of them.

For life in general though I often ask myself the same questions and haven’t really come up with an answer..

No, more of just a personal challenge to try to keep up doing 10000-15000 each day but the last few days I’ve been doing a little more than that.

21k steps was a good number for the day. #proofofwalk

Going to give StartOS another try as a possible replacement/upgrade for my current node. Last time I tried installing it (over a year ago now) was a failure due to what seemed to be a hardware compatibility issue. This time I’m going to try on a new current generation NUC.

Interesting discussion. While I’m not part of the low vision community myself, I know a few people that are. One of them has been involved with a project developing the open source NVDA screen reader software. It’s Windows based but last I heard it was pretty capable and a good alternative to the commercial options like JAWS. NVDA also seems to support refreshable braille displays. Being open source it might be an easier option to get it working well with HWW software.

Looks like you have some nice weather! Enjoy your Monday!

Morels are great too. I’ve occasionally been able to buy them here but not common as from what I’ve been told there is only a short season for them and they can really only available by foraging.

Lion’s mane has a very meaty texture too so can be good as a meat substitute. The flavour is a bit milder, I’ve seen it described more like shellfish rather than meat though.

I believe they were originally from somewhere in asia but I’m not entirely sure. These ones were grown locally here in Australia but I don’t think they are a native variety.

I also hated mushrooms until I came across a stall at the local farmer’s market and tried some of the different varieties of oyster mushrooms, lion’s mane, and more recently shiitake that they sell. That box of shiitake was Australian $12. Not as cheap as some other varieties at supermarkets but not too expensive either.

We are pretty lucky here as the city is surrounded by hills so we have a lot of nodes on top of the hills which gives pretty good coverage across the city. Plus a good community that works together fairly well to avoid nodes interfering with each other.
