If they can force banks to freeze accounts for the trucker protesters, imagine how easily they could shut down relays.

Actually, it's not that low. Any political instability in Canada can have unpleasant consequences. For some random reason, a significant number of main relays are located in this country.

Do you think people are using some bad methods to try to make Drivechain a reality? All I see -- and I'm doing myself -- is trying to convince people that Drivechain is a good idea, nothing more.

But then every day I read these comments that say: "this is contentious, therefore I'm against". How can the thing stop being contentious if just talking about an idea causes some people to automatically be against it?

After 14 years we don't have anything near hyperbitcoinization, which is the goal of every sane person, and fees are probably only still relatively cheap today because SegWit did a mandatory blocksize increase.

No non-custodial offchain mechanism will ever be able to bypass the lower limit of requiring trustless payments to be bigger than the fees required for an onchain transaction. If we expect fees to increase -- and we must if we want Bitcoin to continue to be safe -- we must also expect that less and less transactions will continue to be viable.

There are only two solutions: custodial stuff and Drivechain. If no argument can be made that Drivechain breaks Bitcoin then activating it is the reasonable course of action.

Time is #Bitcoin’s ally not its enemy.

As the fixed #Bitcoin subsidy continues to decline, real price discovery will take hold.

What is the biggest hurdle Nostr faces? It’s easy to look at things through rose-colored glasses — everyone here is a massive supporter simply by using it, so there’s an inherent bias. Curious how well some can play devil’s advocate…

Turkey is breaking bad.

I deal with steel pipe suppliers, yesterday found out that 2 of the companies that I previously worked with are closed. Couldn’t reach to a third one.

Today was at two different factories and both of them told us that they are facing huge issues regarding collecting payments.

Turkey was at an ultra loose monetary policy up until end of May 2023 aka the last elections.

Monetary policy got tightened and tax increases started to happen literally a week after the elections.

With 2 months of monetary tightening and credit crunch, companies started to fail and I bet it will get much worse until Turkey starts begging to IMF or Brics for money. And of course it will only get worse after getting more debt to pay debt.

Understanding #bitcoin will be important.
