Single Earth day

The surprising thing is that the boomers who are still in power and have high influence are not responding to events that their parents went through and have direct memories (and trauma) of.

They allow the same cycles to return: the large war and basic instability in security for decades.

Unpacking it a bit more: if you don’t care about humanity but just your immediate family or yourself it still makes no sense. What about your grandchildren and their future?

Or your personal life if you still have a few decades to go?

Living during large wars is no fun and brings hardship. Why you don’t care?

This is a fantastic and very powerful feed builder.

Would love to have something similar on Nostr.

Check out yourself: https://skyfeed.app/ and if you need a bluesky invite, drop a DM.

Here’s the git (it’s not complete): https://github.com/skyfeed-dev

Quite a bit about X recommendation algos but also about Grok.

Seems that Musk contradicts himself in the war issue.

“When you look at the enemy on the screen, it reminds you of when you are planning a scene at the editing desk – looking for the shot, then the reaction. It’s the same here, you are looking for the right angle.”

It’s a edge case but clients offer eventids as hex and how do you get a regular event out of it?

Some clients accept it in their search bar but others don’t. And by input I mean regular string to the field.

Looks like Automatic is giving up on making Tumblr a sucess. They’re reassigning team nembers and going to keep the site going with a minimal staff. According to nostr:npub1qrufvu49ef3v8f9gn4rz98a96xjclfgxgp3srwu5t66vx224m3qqc5afxp, this internal memo outlines the changes.

I’m saddened as i hoped tumblr would be revived and I see antidotal evidence of it getting new traction. My teenage kids love it, for example.

Some comments about the acquisition here

I like the idea of it showing the input without too much hassle. A nitter of nostr.

The input field could be more feature reach (paste anything type) if not confusing. For example, I pasted an eventid in hex and got a syntax error.

Error handling could be more graceful and less intimidating.

A great thread about Farcaster vs. Nostr differences

nostr:note1hxrv8yxf3z9j4z2xrm4mtrg3cyv74vz7nh8uuxkc0xt4r5u5qd4qtk35cq

It might have more in common with ATProto than nostr since both have more top down data structure and architecture even though Farcaster is now permissionless (at least to join).

“That difference is big enough to alter what properties we infer the sun has based on the vibrations picked up from its seismology”

“The model, codenamed as “Olympus”, has 2 trillion parameters, the people said, which could make it one of the largest models being trained. OpenAI's GPT-4 model, one of the best models available, is reported to have one trillion parameters.”

In a word: blockchain. It makes everything expensive where nostr is more affordable and can be used for free.

For example, users need to pay a yearly fee to store they data (for posting etc.).

Yet, nothing is really free.

X and rest of the media that are driven and rewarded by views and emotional response baits exploit this to the max.

The greatest fools of the emotional exploitation are the users that consume, react and response to fabricated content and news.
