All institutions in our society are fundamentally memeplexes, complex information structures. These structures, like any information are subject to replication and entropy. Over time the institutions grow more complex and entropy increases. As entropy increases, the reliability of the information decreases and trust erodes. This results in the decay of the moral fabric and eventually the collapse of society and civilization. #bitcoin resists entropy by an ever increasing flow of energy through the system.
Simplified explanation is that as the size of the quantum system grows, it starts to lose it's quantum properties. This means that more advanced error correction mechanisms need to be in place to maintain the quantum states, and there may well be a limit on how large a quantum computing system can be.
My understanding is that it is not even certain if it is theoretically possible to scale quantum computers to large numbers of qbits due to quantum decoherence
