Another earthquake in the Turkish-Syrian border. 6.4 + various aftershocks.

it’s early days, as disagreeable as we may be individually, people that are early here are like-minded for now… conflicts will emerge when the global town square moves in but every individual has better tools at their disposal to curate their experience to a degree that isn’t possible in the centralized alternatives.

#[0] how did you get brb.io to route to a website on a browser without breaking the relay over a web socket?

others that have done something similar seem to be forwarding to /invoices/

thanks lost my nip5 but relay is working… web servers are frustrating

#[0] just gave a shoutout to nostr + LN on live zoom covering recent events…

prepare for the flood

Sign up for nostr.wine.

Add the main relay and follow instructions to add the filter relay.

If using Damus, in the global tab, select hamburger in the top right and allow only paid relays.

You can pay directly from a custodial wallet/ramp that supports LN such as cash app.

Other popular paid relays are eden.nostr.land, atlas.nostr.land, puravida.nostr.land.

Want to try something:

I need someone to help me configure routing my VM IP to a baremetal on the same tailscale VPN to accesss the relay on metal with public IP + help me set up rsync snapshots to rsync.net for the metal

210,000 sat bounty

hoping i’m competent enough to handle over a 60-minute zoom / meet with screen share

will also have some questions about nginx rsync rinetd as we work through

please reply or dm here

there is no good outcome for existing platforms or their users regardless of which way this ruling goes.

nostr apps are the only viable solutions so everyone can customize who gets to censor how much of their social media feed.

an old piece i hadn’t shared publicly on the bird app out of self-censorship…

based on andrew chen’s book, “the cold start problem” and extended to considerations for interoperable networks (think LN or nostr).

when building products for closed networks, the goal is to eventually build a moat.

when building products for interoperable networks, the goal is to grow by providing the best UX.

products for interoperable networks can better overcome the cold start problem by seeking to be symbiotic with other interoperable networks (nostr with LN) and parasitic towards closed networks (twitter).

initially, similar products for an interoperable network are symbiotic with each other (eg each nostr social client improves the ux for users of other nostr social clients).

eventually, as the network reaches a global ceiling, parasitism among similar products will increase as a few will dominate and eat away at less popular products.

building for interoperable networks is a new paradigm now that we have digitally native sound money and new open protocols developing on the web. this paradigm breaks old VC models and it will be interesting to see how venture capital in a more open and bitcoinizing world develops.
