As you suggested I watch a video by Dr. Ken Berry: I Was WRONG About Veggies (Plant Problems) 2024.
Here are some of my thoughts:
Too many carbs and fibers
He thinks that for some of us vegetables contain too many carbohydrates and fiber. He doesn't explains who the "some of us" are, why thy are a problem, what digestive problems they encounter, and why those people might want to consider his challenge.
He is addressing a small group of people who have digestive problems and "weird inflammation* that they can't get a handle on. Those people should not do a challenge online, they should visit a doctor. They need personalised care from a healthcare professional.
Antinutrients
He says that vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals, but the problem is that they are not bioavailable. The reason is that plants contain antinutrients (phytates, lectines, oxalates, ...).
He doesn't mentioned that those compounds are present in such small quantities that they're unlikely to harm our health when eaten as part of the whole food — compared with eating them as a single compound. Or that cooking significantly reduces the levels of those compounds. Or that they there are research being conducted on their possible health benefits including slowing the progression of cancers, reducing inflammation and protecting against infections.
Inflammation
Polyphenols are a group of compounds found in plants. They boast a wide range of health benefits, thanks to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Having a reaction to one plant doesn't mean all plants consumption should be stopped. Is the reaction due to a allergy or intolerance? If it's an intolerance, find out how much you can eat without triggering a reaction. Slowly increase quantity overtime. Again work with a professional healthcare provider, don't do an online challenge.
Because some people have a reaction to a specific food doesn't mean we all have to stop eating plants. And saying that plants is the reason for the symptoms with medical investigation is pointless and dangerous.
With a carnivore diet you are missing out on health benefits of plants.
The gut microbiome is important for human health: digestion, metabolism, hormones, mood, brain health, immune system, energy levels.
The gut is home to 70% of our immune system.
Fiber is the preferred food of microbes in our gut. They break down the fiber and produce short-chain fatty acids, which are potent anti-inflammatory compounds that have healing effects on the body.
Plants contain a wide variety of healthy compounds like polyphenols. These act as antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory powers.
Animal products don’t contain fiber or polyphenols.
Here are a couple of podcasts you might want to listen to/watch if you are interested in learning why plants should be part of your diet.
By cutting out highly process foods and going on a highly restrictive diet you have remove the cause of your symptoms but you also have removed foods that are beneficial to your health.
Plants are not bad for people . They have always been part of our diet. Having a negative reaction to a plan doesn't mean that they are all bad or that you should permanently exclude the plan you have a reaction to. There might be an underlying medical reason that can be address or reducing the quantity ingested may not trigger a reaction.
Over 60% of the calories consumed in the US are ultra processed, and it's higher for children. Diets high in ultra processed foods have been linked with increased risk of heart disease, weight gain, cancer, and even mortality. If you are looking for a correlation between food and diseases, it's not with vegetables, it's with ultra process foods.
The reason people are struggling is due to the lack of food eduction, modern food production, financial incentives, and the way doctors are trained.
Also, let's stop comparing ourselves with other animals. We have different digestive systems and different ways to process food and extract the nutriments we need.
We should concern ourselves with how or body works, what it needs and how to provide it.
Not in Canada. They prefer forced sterilization.
Hahaha!! "(...)poisonous plants filled with cancer". Another clown who doesn't know anything about food and cancer.
So, get on an onmivore diet.
That's what's called an omnivore diet.
Meat is processed. Someone has to process the cow.
A normal diet is called an omnivore diet.
Absolutely not!
Lighting is still experimental. More to come.
Tested my first tiny swap from LN to Liquid using nostr:npub1psm37hke2pmxzdzraqe3cjmqs28dv77da74pdx8mtn5a0vegtlas9q8970
Fast and cheap. Besides the federation security model (and associated counterparty risk), what are the other major concerns with liquid? Any network stability issues?
There is no L-BTC/BTC swap with Boltz. Use sideswap.io/peg-in-out/ to peg-out. Peg-out fee is 0.1% + on-chain fee.
No batching of transaction with peg-outs.
No need to force them. Keep telling them that NOSTR is for Bitcoiners only and shitcoiners are not allowed.
Block size is small to make running a node financially accessible to a large number of people. The more nodes, the more the blockchsin is distributed.
Why wouldn't you use it? It was created as a p2p electronic cash system after all.
You replace what you spend.
I'm not sure about that. In 2024 we will have ordinals, ETFs, halving, change in accounting rules for Bitcoin held in treasury, countries starting to mine and hold Bitcoin,...
The demand for block space will increase.
