We have 9+ examples of govts cutting spending in crises & not hitting recession. Canada (1995-97) didn't just avoid it—it outdid all the G7 in GDP, unemployment, deficits, inflation over the next decade.
Krugman calls them exceptions which were due to low interest rates and/or net export booms, but as it turns out those two so-called "exceptions" actually came from slashing spending! Bob also covers why Hoover’s 1932 tax hike (not cutting spending) tanked the economy.
Finally he goes through different scenarios to see if all these still hold, from today's floating exchange rate's system up until a 100% reserve #Bitcoin standard.

#Mises explains:
"The abolition of slavery and serfdom is to be attributed neither to the teachings of theologians and moralists nor to weakness or generosity on the part of the masters…. Servile labor disappeared because it could not stand the competition of free labor; its unprofitability sealed its doom in the market economy."
The logic is simple, a slave-hunting business, can not operate in a free market since they're paying the price of coercion on top of other expenses. The price of war and guarding can only be paid by the #state. and doesn't that make sense now?

This is exactly what I've always believed about so called perfect competition, anti-trust and monopoly.

In medieval Ireland, for example, a king was not the head of state but rather a crime-insurer: if someone committed a crime, the first thing that happened was that the king paid the "insurance" benefit to the victim, and then proceeded to force the criminal to pay the king in turn. Restitution to the victim’s insurance company was completely derived from the idea of restitution to the victim.

As some of you may know, there was a war couple of days earlier. First I had to run out of the town, and then move cuz my house was technically in a war zone. let alone the internet blackout.
There's a lot I wanted to talk about, but for now, let's just say MASSES ARE ASSES.

So basically, it refers to the idea that raising your voice (through votes, protests, etc.) isn't likely to lead to major change within the system. The only way to actually change things is to 'vote with your feet' (i.e., leave the system). Leaving fiat currency and entering the Bitcoin system is such an example. Patchwork is another example:
"if a separate version of the note is saved to the relay", not necessarily!
What about building Substack on top of #Nostr? And like, use zaps for subscriptions? Imagine encrypting posts on relays and then only subscribers can decrypt them with their signatures.
I think it's possible cryptographically. Has there been any effort?

Just in case you didn't know "... By the time Ulbricht graduated, he had become interested in #libertarian economic theory and adhered to the political philosophy of Ludwig von #Mises."

"Society cannot contribute anything to the breeding and growing of ingenious men. A creative genius cannot be trained; there are no schools for creativeness.
A genius is precisely a person who defies all schools and rules, deviates from the traditional roads of routine, and opens up new paths through land inaccessible before. A genius is always a teacher, never a pupil—always self-made.
He does not owe anything to the favor of those in power. However, the government can create conditions that paralyze the efforts of a creative spirit and prevent him from rendering useful services to the community."
- Ludwig von Mises
