Robert Mapplethorpe's X Portfolio is a collection of thirteen photos that dives into the male homosexual sadomasochistic scene, causing controversy and censorship during his 1989 exhibition, which happened at the same time as the AIDS crisis and his own fight with the disease.

Introversion + extroversion are part of the Big Five personality traits. While these traits are generally stable, they can still change over time. If you feel that your introversion is holding you back: such as preventing you from advancing in your career or missing out on social connection, this guide offers exercises to help you become more extroverted.
I like this guide because it encourages you to change, emphasizing that your personality is not set in stone. It also provides exercises that are practical + possible to do.

Antropofagia, 1929 by Tarsila do Amaral
Tarsila do Amaral (1886-1973) was an important figure of Brazilian modernism, shaping Brazil's cultural identity in the 1920s. Her oil canvas work โAntropofagia" plays a significant role in the Antropofagia movement, which was a central part of Brazilian modernism. The movement encouraged the concept of "cannibalizing" foreign influences: taking them in, changing them, and reinterpreting them to form a unique Brazilian cultural identity instead of just copying European models. Until April 21, you can explore the works of Brazilian artists from the twentieth century and discover the diversity of Brazilian art during that era at the exhibition "Brasil! Brasil! The Birth of Modernism" at the Royal Academy in London.

Madonna Surrounded by Seraphim and Cherubim, c. 1450 by Jean Fouquet
Jean Fouquet (c.โ1420โ1481), a pivotal figure in late medieval art, created the "Madonna Surrounded by Seraphim and Cherubim" as part of the "Melun Diptych", commissioned by Etienne Chevalier, treasurer to King Charles VII of France. This painting challenges traditional depictions of the Virgin Mary, showing her with one breast exposed. An old tradition says that the figure of the Madonna is based on Agnes Sorel, the mistress of Charles VII. She was known not only for her beauty but also for her important role at court: She advised the king + helped secure support from the nobility during difficult times in France.

The Serpent, 2025 by David Altmejd (Photo: Tristan Lajarrige)
The Serpent is the latest work of the Canadian artist David Altmejd (born1974). When he began the large-scale installation, which consists of a series of heads, he had no idea what it was going to look like or the size it was going to be. Altmejd sees the process of making as the heart of his sculptures, appreciating the unpredictable + chaos. The Serpent is now on view at the White Cube New York.
