You already admitted that Walmart takes advantage of social programs by getting free labor AND you defended them. Are you saying Walmart is not a capitalist company?

I’m not a socialist. But let’s back up so we can maybe use logic and reason going forward. When, in your opinion has “true” capitalism ever exited?

Nobody said anything about free stuff.

According to Adam Smith, capitalism can and will evolve into the “parasite”.

But again, you tell me what capitalism is and when it has actually functioned uninterrupted.

Who said anything about charity? If capitalism is NOT anarchy, then what is it? I’ve asked you before and you don’t answer. I’m trying to gauge whether you know what you are talking about or you just go by what you have heard.

That is not what capitalism is according to Adam Smith. Have you read Adam Smiths writings? How do you have property claims without someone to enforce it? Who protects you from someone taking your property?

I want to start by saying you are light years ahead of most people by just admitting that you may not be completely clear on what capitalism is.

That being said, capitalism and free markets are two completely different things. Free markets have no third party interference or insurance. Free markets by definition means no central governing authority. Capitalism relies on property rights, and owning the means of production. In order to have property right and ownership, you must have a way to enforce this “rules”. Not only do you need to enforce your and project your property rights, you need to protect your property from others who want to take it. The police state protects property for the capitalist, not people…there is an actual court case that clarifies this.

Free market solutions would be a completely free market or anarchy. With today’s advancement in mobility, weaponry, and population free markets would be almost impossible.

But, if you read up on Joesph Schumpeter and what he has to say, as well as those he collaborated with, it is inevitable that some form of a “social market economy” will and has to emerge.

The biggest problem with capitalism is its profit driven mantra and its rent seeking behavior. It exploits both labor and resources like Adam Smith (the father of capitalism) warned about.

Well of course I have! I love learning and finding truth. The older I got the more I realized, it’s better to listen or ask questions, especially if you don’t know the subject being discussed very well. Getting old has few advantages, but that is one. If I were you, I would read more Adam Smith.

People depend on wages to buy food, shelter, and water. Walmart does not pay enough wages for its workers to achieve this. The State has to step in with social programs to subsidize the exploitation of capitalism.

One came before the other.

With the Christian god I have observed that anything “good” that happens this god gets credit. When anything “bad” happens, it is another participates fault or the “devil”. The Christian god has no flaws, and can never do any wrong, even though “it” is all powerful, knowing, and created everything.

This kind of relationship is also found in the followers of #capitalism. Any progress, innovation, or “good” thing that happens, credit is given to capitalism. Also like the Christian god, anything that exists like poverty, wealth gap, or many forms of exploitation, is not capitalisms fault. It is then blamed on corporatism, fascism, socialism, or the nearest governing authority.

If you are not able to criticize or question your beliefs to their core, what do you believe? Never be satisfied that you have learned everything. Don’t be so easily satiated by the sounds of your own beliefs being echoed off the walls.

I will poke you, prod you, and challenge you. You will not have all the answers, and I will not have all the answers. Capitalism is not your identity. In order for society and humans to make it off this rock, we will all rise above “profits” to our next level in evolution of sentient beings. Or, we will collapse under the weight of those using each other as a step ladder to leave first or be the “richest” person on earth. We, humans, and all life on the planet are in this together, there is balance in everything.

#bitcoin was literally a gift, given with no expectation of receiving anything in return. Treat it that way. Treat others that way. Use it to transact value and transcend value…don’t use it as another tool to manipulate and control. Don’t use it to hold over or lease life back to other humans.

#bitcoin will get us 95% of the way there. The last 5% is the most important and the bridge that only humans can usher the new era over on…changing the minds from status quo. Changing the ideology that has plagued us for thousands of years. People are not stepping stones and no, it does not have to be that way. Without that 5%…#Satoshi will become Oppenheimer and #bitcoin will be atomic bombs instead of nuclear energy. Tesla died poor. Satoshi left anonymously and still hasn’t moved one million coins. What will people judge your legacy on? What is your incentive, truly, ask yourself what motivates you?

Capitalism seeks to maximize profits and centralize capital. Have you read all of Adam Smiths comments, lectures, concerns of capitalism?

Thank You nostr:nprofile1qqsvf646uxlreajhhsv9tms9u6w7nuzeedaqty38z69cpwyhv89ufcqpp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqprfmhxue69uhkummnw3ezummjv9hxwetsd9kxctnyv4mquy7sml !!! The #bitcoin bros have been unsuccessfully pushing back at my attempts to change the #capitalism mindset. Now that you are preaching the #proofofwork mantra, they will start listening more. Man this makes me happy!

“You should only be able to consume from the world as much value as you create for it.” Stop the rent seeking. Stop the exploitation of labor. Stop the exploitation of resources. STOP PROFITING OFF OF OTHER PEOPLES SUFFERING!!!

#capitalismsucks

I’m glad you pointed out the math being wrong and showing me that the greed and exploitation is way worse. Thank you!

So that meme is actually old and more absurd. Making Walmart owners north of $42 million a day.

Just the company is profits not including any personal share appreciation.

#capitalism requires social programs run by a governing body. It’s okay to admit that because capitalism is not synonymous with “free markets”. Capitalism is not the best economic theory, admitting that does not make your man bun unravel or force you to eat less meat, “bro”.

There has and will always be organization of tribes and societies (government). What you are stating is “#capitalism will exploit anything it can for profit, so let’s blame the tools it uses for exploitation and not capitalism itself”. Doesn’t that sound a little off to you?

I agree #bitcoin fights against “rent seeking” culture that capitalism breeds but it’s ideological change that needs to happen. If you don’t get rid of the Stockholm Syndrome, Bitcoin will become the next tool “for profit” uses to exploit humans and resources. History is very clear on this subject.

You ask an interesting question which I believe few, including myself, would be able to answer. I am happy to share some of my thoughts.

My first thought is that for many years, before its return to China, Hong Kong could be considered a s a relatively free and capitalist market. HK was a place where exceedingly rich and poverty stricken poor (sic the Walled City) lived. I would suggest that many of the poor had escaped the communist Chinese regime and somewhat like a new migrant to a country were starting at the bottom. Differing skills sets can also mean that an individual sits at different levels within the social strata. I know of one instance where a Chinese woman escaped communist China, she was bright and managed to get herself into a US University to study science then returned to HK and built her own business - only small but it ensured her family lived a comfortable life. The HK environment allowed this but others would not. It is also worth looking at the last few years of HK as a British “colony” - it became a rat race as each person tried to “make enough money” to escape the impending return to China. Capitalism allowed this but the impetus was I believe something worse.

My second thought is that in the west where many believe they are free and living in a capitalist economy, we are essentially progressing towards an ever increasing degree of socialism, with government control around every corner and a population that is in one form or another paying up to 50% tax to its government so that it can address amongst other things social issues. Many, if not all social programmes are complete failures. As an alternative I would suggest that many people are good and, if not taxed so heavily and allowed to build their businesses without restrictions, they would be more philanthropic and willing to share with others who have not fared so well. I do not condone helping those who will not help themselves - as distinct from those through real circumstances need a hand up instead of a hand-out.

For myself, if the term is capitalism then I vote for it. To me this means minimal government, laissez faire economics, a stable currency such as #bitcoin or even #gold. Stop taxing me, stop regulating me, stop the “nanny state”.

Maybe not the answer you were looking for but I am sure there are many brighter people than me out there that can provide a better answer.

This is a long response so bear with me. I agree that oppressed people, when freed, majority of the time will seek to sustain and better their lives.

You want the system of capitalism to get credit. Let’s give you that assumption and continue.

If capitalism is THE best system, why do capitalist use the State and seek to buy politicians?

Wouldn’t a person who “made it” on pure capitalistic virtues want to ENSURE the State would not need to play any role in others lives…if they could help it?

Answering/pondering those questions will respond to the majority of what you have wrote. I also thank you for cogent rebuttal.

What are the “virtues” of #capitalism? Can anyone explain this to me with it somewhat fleshed out?
