I feel like many people prefer to be told what’s important. Perceived as easier than curating what’s really important to them. Wanting something gamified so they can tell if they’re “winning” maybe. 🤷♂️ Not advocating; just feel that’s what we’ve been taught is important by existing algorithms. “We all know the nightmare” … Yes, we’ve been living that nightmare for 10+ years. Let’s try something different.

I have similar feelings, but I’m not a big social media person. It reminded me of early Internet days when I stopped dialing into BBSs. Sort of what I had envisioned the Internet would be. Only took 30 years. 😏

Thank you for that!! Not sure how I feel about zapping from moment to moment. It really is a matter of perspective, and too much focus on the money aspect can be a bad thing.
Do I just 🤙 or ⚡️ a note like this? Is doing so bad etiquette and spammy? I’m probably going to do both because I would rather err on the side of how I feel about the content. Does that make it a competition? Yes, I’d say for many, yes. It may also make some uncomfortable on the receiving side.
I don’t know if you make it up to the poster whether something can be zapped, or quite possibly privately vs. publicly zapped. Or provide that level of customization from both sides. I’m sure that adds complexity and my brain melts trying to think of the justifications and scenarios.
I feel strongly about few things:
1) Adding value exchange absolutely works and is imperative in some form.
2) We should all try to be flexible because what sounds great in one scenario may not work in another.
3) That optionality is just as important. Both opting-in & out. Slow moves and find consensus.
This isn’t like agreeing on the next block, and we are not all nodes running the same software.

The amount donated is meaningful in itself, but that's not the most interesting part of the announcement. The fact that 5 million is to go towards #Bitcoin development and 5 million is to go towards #Nostr development. That means they're equally important. And, we all know how important Bitcoin will be to the future of the world, right? That's how important Nostr can be if we work hard enough. Wild. 🤯 When people realize this, they'll come, and we'll be ready.
They’re very synergistic. While I try to value things in sats that number always moves. I always thought it would be difficult to gauge different fiats to sats as bitcoin monetizes.
A few days of zapping and I know what 21/42/500/5K/15K sats equates in my local fiat, and I feel better exchanging value having experienced this. Nostr really has a chance of boosting the circular economy beyond what I imagined.
