...of course, all we know of Dr. Peterson is what he's chosen to reveal about himself publicly. I remember when he went through that very dark season, and seeing his struggle, really hoping that he would embrace the gospel of Christ and find a true and lasting soul-deep comfort. Only God (and Dr. Peterson himself) knows the true state of his heart. One can hope, though.
I haven't kept up with him in the past couple of years, so all I would have to go on is this latest "debate" video where doesn't say yes or no to the question.
Last I knew, he'd come pretty close to an actual conversion to Christianity, I think, especially in some of his conversations with Jonathan Pageau. But since I've been following him (since before he was fired from his professorship) he's been a sort of "appreciative agnostic" -- saying things like Jung did: ~ 'it may or may not be true but look at the alternatives, we should all live "as if" it is true.'
All that said, an agnostic is a functional anti-theist. I say that because the God who actually does exist actually has revealed himself in a way that we actually CAN know. The agnostic says that either that God does not exist or that, if he does, he has not revealed himself and therefore we CANNOT know. That latter point is a denial of the actual God-who-is.
Came here to post this. Concealed. Stay off the X.

Dr. Peterson, with respect, "apart from faith, it is impossible to please the Lord."
There's no credit for 'living as if.'
> ...yet [if] they never truly come unto Christ, [then they] cannot be saved: much less can men, not professing the Christian religion, be saved in any other way whatsoever, be they never so diligent to frame their lives according to the light of nature, and the laws of that religion they do profess. And, to assert and maintain that they may, is very pernicious, and to be detested.

-- sorry, that's [WCF X.4](https://opc.org/wcf.html#Chapter_10) -- got my Roman numerals mixed up.

Anti-theists ("atheists") arguing against Christianity on "moral grounds" is the epitome of ridiculosity.
"They say they want the kingdom, but they don't want the king in it."
Dostoevsky said, famously, 'if there is no God, then all things are permissible.'
We each know, deep in our bones, that _not_ all things are permissible.

My 9yo son absolutely decimated me in chess the other day. I was actually trying to play well. I may never fully recover. 😂
"I guess that's what you get for all that trash-talk, daddy," he said, beaming.
Humility is good for the soul.
In tomorrow's discussion of the [Westminster Larger Catechesm](https://opc.org/lc.html) (D.V.), we will cover:
**Q. 22. Did all mankind fall in that first transgression?**
A. The covenant being made with Adam as a public person, not for himself only, but for his posterity, all mankind descending from him by ordinary generation, sinned in him, and fell with him in that first transgression.
**Q. 23. Into what estate did the fall bring mankind?**
A. The fall brought mankind into an estate of sin and misery.
Thankfully, there is good news coming soon, in #30!

Good discussion this morning.
A blessed Lord's Day to you each, and all.
```
8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: **for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.**
I think it was my own fault. I had updated Signal desktop which then wasn't compatible with the older version of Molly on my mobile device. Should've been an easy fix--update Molly--but I got confused and did everything wrong.
Possible motive for Mr. Trainor (Winnie's father) to stage an accident...? 🤔
Yep. Opposite of bananas, and avacados? Well, good luck timing that market.
I'm old enough to remember when The NOSTR was all about having **low** time-preference.
Now it's all, "spend your bitcoin!"
_Weltanschauung_ (German, "world view") the way one view's the world, i.e., one's philosophy/religion, how one answers the questions "What exists? How do we know? How do we respond?" or "Where did we come from? What went wrong? and how do we fix it?"
...fixed:
- made a backup of my molly/signal data
- cleared molly app cache and deleted data
- updated molly from v7.39.5-2-FOSS -> v7.42.1-2-FOSS
- restored the account from backup, re-registered device
- re-linked laptop
don't remember how I got molly running in multiple profiles on grapheneos but at least I'm back in business for now
trying to re-register I never get the same errors twice. "Error connecting to service" one time, another time it claims my PIN is wrong, I try to create a new one, "Error saving PIN," another time I get the 'are you a human' screen and other times I don't. Weirdness.
Hm. Actually yes, I think this mess started after I updated nixos on my laptop (which updated signal-desktop) and that's where I saw this weird notification. It said I had to update the software on my 'original device.' I had originally installed Signal on my old phone, but then transferred the account to my new (grapheneOS) a while ago. It gets too messy and complicated to explain from there. Suffice it to say, this is probably my fault.
I use Molly on two different profiles on graphene os. Molly is always behind Signal by a bit. Maybe the update to signal desktop on the laptop put it 'out of reach' for the Molly versions on my phone.
Guess it'll be quiet for a few days while I wait and see...
Molly.im (hardened #Signal) just broke on #grapheneOS and I can't "re-register" my device. Locked out everywhere.
Anyone else seeing this? Have any tips?
lost my system-monitor in the top bar... hm
Our 6yo son's playful banter with his mother sounds more like he's her elderly curmudgeonly father and it's hilarious
I believe the quote is from _Black Rednecks and White Liberals_ .
"slave" comes from Slavic -- white Europeans
imagine being enslaved so often that they name it after you
there's a certain small college town in MI that has almost no late-night food options that are walkable (🍻) and *someone* could make a killing (so to speak) with one of these
I set datacarrier = false; what else?
default plus datacarrier = false
not sure what else I should do, honestly
I've been using OnlyOffice and it's pretty good. LibreOffice is my plan B. Couldn't get CryptPad to work.
Not all catholics are Romanists.
Romanism is just one denomination among many--EO, Presbyterian, Baptist, Anglican, etc.
Protestants are also catholic--we profess the ancient ecumenical creeds (e.g., the Apostles' Creed).
Protestants _protest_ against Rome's deviations from the Augustinian tradition, and against their extra- or non-scriptural innovations.
I realize most people don't care about the proper use of the word 'catholic' but we should: "sloppy languaga makes sloppy thought possible."
Rome's centuries-old attempts to lay exclusive claim to the label 'catholic' are propaganda, plain and simple.
