Hopefully this weekend I'll have time to take pictures and test them out.

I just got solar lights installed in the barn, so we can see at night or when it is very overcast. We had looked at running electricity to the barn and it was very expensive. The solar lights were an order of magnitude cheaper and we have a generator for that rare instance we need electricity in the barn for a project.

I'll try to get some pictures later and give a review once the lights are charged up and working.

There are lots of reasons to homeschool and not send your kids to government schools. Most people focus on the problem of schools pushing wokeness and transgenderism which are both horrific problems.

Another issue is that government schools teach kids to not investigate for themselves, but to recite back what an authority figure tells them. It teaches kids to not think for themselves. This is always bad, but is becoming even worse now that so many are predicting AI to replace a lot of tasks and even a lot of jobs/careers. AI will always beat a human in reciting back what it is taught. To differentiate from AI, people need to think for themselves, analyze, be creative, etc. These are all things kids are discouraged from doing in government schools.

If you homeschool your kids, you can encourage these thought processes to prepare your kids for success in the world to come.

Up until recently, I would've said Switzerland, but I haven't liked the direction they've gone lately, so I'd have to think long and hard to decide.

With all of the crazy going on in the world and because my husband speaks spanish (even if he is a little out of practice), I'd probably go somewhere in South America or Central America.

I love orpingtons. I had a flock of buff orpingtons, but had to get rid of them because I developed a lung sensitivity that forced me to chose between breathing and eggs. I sure miss my chickens.

The buff orpingtons were friendly, laid lots of eggs, and had huge legs and thighs when you butchered them in the end. My family likes dark meat, so a butchered orpington was fantastic for us.

I was thinking the same thing. Property was so important in the Bible that in the year of jubilee, it was supposed to revert back to the owners, so each family could maintain what it needed to support itself.

I'm a Christian, science geek, and creation believer. Tonight I am teaching at our church's Awana program about the science that supports creation, a young Earth, and the global flood.

It's nice to find a fellow believer.

I also avoid seed oils like the plague that they are.

I mostly use animal fats, but use coconut oil occasionally cooking and use olive oil occasionally uncooked, usually to make a homemade salad dressing (or just oil & vinegar).

I've been grain and sugar free for over 4 years. I don't crave either. I will admit to substituting riced cauliflower for rice in many recipes and I have a thing for chocolate and ice cream (neither of which I do daily). Choc Zero makes some to-die-for chocolate. I eat the 92% because I don't like things being too sweet. I've also done some sugar free ice cream, but the store bought stuff always has sugar alcohols, which I try to avoid, so it is a rare treat in small quantity. I just bought an ice cream maker to try to make my own ice cream without the sugar alcohols, using monk fruit or stevia, and made much less sweet than the store bought ice cream. I don't want to train my taste buds to like the super sweet stuff ever again.

I do all of my seed starting indoors in a kratky hydroponic system. I got an infestation on my overwintered crops (lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, & strawberries) and had to dump everything and not grow anything for a couple of weeks to have the infestation die off.

I'm late starting. I'm hoping the fact that kratky seems to get starts ready early will save me. Being from Wyoming, we have a very short growing season.

I have my first litter of bunnies (only 3 of 6 made it to 3 weeks but they re doing fantastic). I might need some rabbit recipes in a month or two.

I should've tagged Wyoming in hopes of finding other Wyomingites

For what it's worth, my son started coding on Khan Academy for free about 6th grade. Later he took classes on Udemy and Coursera. This year (his senior year) I had him take Coursera classes on machine learning, Android App development, and he will soon be taking one on coding block chains so he can learn about some of the up-and-coming areas of coding to figure out what he wants to specialize in. Coursera classes are not for credit, but do include some certifications. Many are taught by college professors. His machine learning classes were taught by Andrew Ng of Stanford.

This would be a way to prove knowledge without the cost of college or having to waste time and money on classes about subjects that he doesn't need.

If he hasn't done any coding, starting with the free Khan Academy might be best to make sure he enjoys it before spending money. Based on my research but not experience, Coursera is well thought of by computer science companies.
