Friedrich Hayek told us what we need:
"We need intellectual leaders who are prepared to resist the blandishments of power and influence and who are willing to work for an ideal, however small may be the prospects of its early realization. They must be men who are willing to stick to principles and to fight for their full realization, however remote."
Politicians often find it hard to stick to their principles because they face pressure to win votes, deal with powerful interest groups, navigate complex issues, and worry about the consequences of taking a stand. Milei is no exception.
Hans-Hermann Hoppe‘s remarks on Javier Milei, an excerpt from the 18th Annual (2024) Meeting of the Property and Freedom Society.
Hans-Hermann Hoppe, finally someone who speaks my language!
That’s exactly, and I mean EXACTLY, what I think too about Milei. The Argentinians, like most of Milei's fans, are blind and can’t see the situation clearly. Hans-Hermann Hoppe calls things by their name! I really like the last part too, when he talks about Milei's geopolitical position, everything is perfectly analyzed and expressed.
Don't fall in love with politicians, they remain what they are. They are not an extension of you and never will be. Their primary focus is on power and control, and their agenda will never fully align with yours.

Privacy is necessary for an open society in the electronic age. Privacy is not secrecy. A private matter is something one doesn’t want the whole world to know, but a secret matter is something one doesn’t want anybody to know. Privacy is the power to selectively reveal oneself to the world.

The text from "Cypherpunk's Manifesto" compared to "Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL laying down rules to prevent and combat child sexual abuse," where EU bureaucrats are trying to control our private messages under the guise of protecting us... The difference between the two writings is the difference between freedom and tyranny, which comes disguised as the need to protect our children from the dangers they face.

Está empezando a hacer más calor allá que aquí, así que es hora de preparar mis maletas. 🧳 ✈️
So after a few days of using Wasabi, my opinion and one final question at the end for #AskNostr:
Coming from Sparrow, it feels more simple. Not necessarily better. Sparrow feels more information- and option-rich in any case. Doesn't mean Wasabi os worse either.
Wasabi's coinjoin is superbly fast and easy, compared to what I was used to with Sparrow. I think it's great that they produce non-equal UTXOs, vs the all equal UTXOs of Whirpool on Sparrow.
In three days I've gotten anonimity scores of over 100, and you can get scores over 10 in mere hours. With Whirpool (at least on Sparrow), mixing was a weeks-long affair.
The fact that the output is a series of UTXOs with values totally different to the values that went in is a fantastic advantage over the all-equally valued UTXOs of Sparrow/Whirpool, at least intuitively.
Two issues that I consider very serious and problematic though:
First, the cost is completely unclear. I have no freaking idea how much this is costing me. Yes, I set the maximum miner fee to agree to participate in a round, and I know the nominal fee of the coordinator. But none of that tells me how much the whole transaction costs. Sparrow-Whirpool was totally transparent.
Second, it produces way too many small and potentially unsuable UTXOs. I mean UTXOs under 100k sats. There should be a way to set a minimum value. This really has completely fucked up my whole UTXO management strategy.
The question now, which I repeatedly asked nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 a propos of what he does in his Wasabi demo video, but he hasn't answer (probably he's muted me), is whether those small potentially useless UTXOs, and all the others really, can be consolidated onto a different wallet while keeping privacy. That's what he does in his video, but I had always understood that consolidating private UTXOs breaks privacy.
Perhaps not if it's a completely new wallet for long term storage only?

Eu roubei esse, não é meu, mas eu gostei porque combinou com o post anterior. 🤩
Nice read.
I felt similarly, my feed was filled with complaints about current issues, but few people take action to change anything. When I have problems, I try to solve them. I don't think it helps to mope around in circles. It's better to try to make changes where we can, starting with ourselves. I prefer nostr, which is smaller and more focused on Bitcoin, where people are working on solving issues, and everyone pitches in where they can. It's more beneficial for my mindset, so I don't regret anything.
Thanks for the follow!

Who knows, maybe we'll get there too. With Bitcoin, time is on our side.
I told you before (on X), let me know if you're in my area, beer on me!
I just deactivated my #Twitter account. I gave up on over 2500 users for #nostr, without announcements or warnings. No strings attached.
Wish me luck. 🤗

On the relay level, but also possible on client level.
Spammers can use their own relays, just like anyone who has been censored.
Which nostr client are you using? I see that you can see how many times those accounts have been reported.
Thanks!

No platforms!

I. What are platforms ?
A platform is a shitty website providing shitty services for the poor and the dumb.
II. Why do platforms exist ?
Platforms are born when a scammer runs into a herd of idiots, so there's always two parts to that question.
On the idiots' end, platforms exist because they figure their only hope to relevancy is ganging together. Because they full know that on their own power they're scarcely worth the trouble of individual names, the "people" that aren't actually people will always be found in herds, wherein they might almost pass muster, from a distance and if superficially examined.
On the scammer's end, platforms exist because the scammer figures he can extract value thereby. This universally reduces to the risibly dysfunctionali process known as "UGC", on occasion augmented by lulzy buck passings.
III. Why don't you use platforms ?
Do you really have to ask ?
Of course I use them, I just don't use them straight. I don't use them like they want to be used, I don't "use" them in the sense sheep "use" shears. I don't let them use me then turn around and try to pretend I use them -- that's what you do. After all, I'm not "a really nice guy"ii with no sense of humour. Are you ?
IV. Why this article then ?
Because noob girlies keep getting excited at finding "me" on whatever platform they frequent. It should be obvious by now, of course, but here it is plain and simple and writ large : no, it's not me. Of course it isn't.
It's just some dork wanna-be me-ing all over himself. Careful you don't get hurt by his pretense, like has happened before.

I. Recall when MySpace sold for a trillion ? How about when Tumblr was worth 1.1 bn ? Or when slashdot sold on the open market for about the same coupla million ?
There is no money in platforms ; nor ever will there be. Bathing in "consensus" as to the contrary is just another facet of being very fucking stupid. [↩]
II. The in-universe etnonym for unmitigable idiocy. [↩]

First time when I bought Bitcoin, I did it through Virwox. I bought Second Life Linden Dollars with PayPal, and then I used those to buy Bitcoin. And I didn't buy it to hold it, I was funding a faucet site. Imagine how idiot I was! 😂 🤷♂️
Yeah, and I was one of those people who gifted those who came to the site. They hoped to get Bitcoin, while I was just hoping to get views on my ads. It took me over a year to understand what #Bitcoin really is and to buy it for myself through LocalBitcoins website.

You need to convert your time and your energy in something, in order to have it back later.
