I had a lot of gripes about the UI on my Pixel 5a...until I got a Pixel 7a. Nostr clients can be very taxing; nature of the beast. The more offloading you do (privacy leaks), the better the UX can be.
On the 7a, it's still not perfect, but it works much more smoothly.
You'll find your friends here, it's not like the old app where they'll all be put right in front of you to follow, but you'll get the hang of networking on nostr soon enough!
On android, there's a keyboard called Unexpected Keyboard that doesn't autocorrect or autopunctuate...and I love it!
