Thank you for working so hard to keep it growing!
And people were worried about the fate of #bitcoin miners with decreasing block rewards. This shows that fees can cover the difference.
Being outraged all the time is a choice. How do you want to spend your life? Save your strength for battles that truly matter.
I'm concerned that state actors can effectively block #lightning channel operations by continuously forcing fees that are 10x or 100x more than they are now. When you control the fiat printer, this type of attack is relatively cheap.
Unfortunately I think taxes are forever, even on a Bitcoin standard. But much, much lower and only ones that are strictly necessary.
That's a solid theory. The silver lining is attacks usually make the system stronger in the long run. Bitcoin will face many tests like this.
I see this too often. Work to be more constructive in your interactions.
I just hope cooler heads prevail as we try to mitigate this. I saw some dude on Twitter setting up bounties to basically burn it all down, even if that includes Bitcoin itself. I can't remember his handle at the moment, but he portrayed himself as someone whose been in the space a long time.
If you want to exercise your right to vote (I know many don't), he may be the least bad option. Everyone is flawed in some way.
Good quote. Open source development is especially challenging because the feedback path is global. I haven't waded into the arena yet, but I've thought about it plenty.
This makes sense. I wasn't thinking about people essentially stealing the images from the mempool.
It's worth noting that paying fees 10x this much would still be trivial for a state actor.
I'm confused why these transactions are so "urgent"? Like why not just wait for cheaper fees?
Welcome!
OGs have thousands of coins (or more) and yet investment is merely a trickle. I don't get it. I would think they would be more incentivized to protect and grow the network. It's a win-win for them.
